Damien ran at his top speed to get to the place where the rebellion held her. He had to get her, had to try to get her away from them, out of that living hell, no other thoughts ran through his mind except that one thought as the tree's blurred in long green streaks past him. Damien's breath came out in steady streams of air as if running at this speed didn't bother him and in truth it didn't. He didn't feel it when his feet hit the paved road that laid a mile away from the place, his breath came out heavily now as he drew close.
Even though he never got tired when he ran. But now with the thought of losing her made his mind and heart heavy with grief, making him struggle under the weight of it. Under the weight of the grief as it triggered his instincts for survival. He would do anything to get her out of that hell, he had to save her, she was the only one that understood how the war changed him and sometimes it wasn't for the good.
But as he ran through the door he realized that he was too late to save her. He stared at her motionless bloody body that once held her precious soul that gave him strength during the fighting in the war. Now only the shell of the one that he loved stayed behind, Damien scram out in agony. His voice echoed through the forest and the mountains, making the birds fly away and the animals run in fright. His coven a few hundred miles away lifted their heads to the sound of their Prince and brother's agony. They knew that what he found had ripped his soul out, his sister's body. Surely, she could hear him morn for her wherever she was, be it heaven or just space.
Notifying the rebels that he was here, he heard their thoughts as they rushed the cabin. Damien quickly broke the binds that had held her in place while they were torturing her. The door on the right slammed open and Damien was now face to face with the vampires that tortured and taken her life.
"Capture the prince! Now!"
Damien bared his fangs at the rebels and a low menacing growl ripped through his teeth as his anger over flowed. Damien grabbed her body off the table, placed a bomb under it, and ran for the open door on the left that led to the outside. He ran full speed away from the cabin. In the distance, he heard the bomb go off, the sound that came after the explosion was not the one that he wanted to hear. It was a sound of a gun clicking and going off. He knew that it was meant for him before he felt the pain bloom in the back of his skull.
Damien stumbled and fell, he didn't feel the pain of going through the trees with his back until he slid to a stop. Damien lifted his head to see where he came from. Tree's laid to waste and blood led to his resting place. He felt blood running down the side of his face and down the back of his neck, his head fell to the snow-covered ground and darkness over took him and he welcomed it with an open heart. As he faded into the dark he heard footsteps coming towards him at a human fast paced. Damien coughed and he felt the blood run from the corners of his mouth, he knew that it wouldn't be long for him. Because pain started to fill his head and body, soon the darkness would come. Damien groaned as the pain became too much and the footsteps came closer at faster rate.
"Call 911! He's hurt badly!"
He knew that he had failed his sister and that the humans could do nothing, but do what they could with an unknown body. The thought of her being in a human morgue sent his soul down a path filled with sorrow and pain. He was never the one that would give into pain or even let it show. But with it being accompanied with the loss of his beloved sister. His heart shattered and the agony had his jaw clinched as painful grunts escaped threw his teeth.
"Sir, stay with me" One of the humans shined a light in Damien's eyes, Damien looked at the male human. Darkness crowded at the edge of his vision. He had to get her name out to the male before the darkness over took him, even in death he had to protect her.
"The girl.........her name is........Lynaya Chambers...........I'm her brother, promise........me that you will.........take care of........her........find our..........family...........take................her................home." Damien struggled to get the words out to the human before the darkness took him.
"I promise" the male human said and Damien relaxed and closed his eyes, then everything was gone.
The human male looked for a pulse franticly and found one very faint. And he lowered his head in relief, this young man was a fighter.
Only if he really knew the truth.
