Kerri woke up with a start in an unfamiliar room. The room was lit by a lamp on the nightstand by the king-sized bed. Which to Kerri's surprise was warm and had a down feathered comforter and pillow. The walls were painted in soft browns with black trim. The bed was round and the comforter was black and the sheets red, so were the pillow. The scent in the room had a wintry mint smell with the hint of a dark spice. She recognized the scent and bolted up right in the bed and instantly regretted the movement. As her head spun and threatened her to take her down again.

This is Damien's room

He came back last night and caught her before she fell and landed on the bag of blood that was for Kyle. She had looked right at Damien and passed out. Kerri hung her head and shook it, why did she have to pass out in front of him? Let alone in his arms after he had fought to keep her safe. Kerri sighed and fell back against Damien's pillows and his scent enveloped her. As she inhaled his scent her hand found something that felt like paper, Kerri's fingers tightened around the paper and she brought it up to the light. Her name was written on the front of it. Kerri's eye brows pulled together at the thought of the note. Kerri opened it and Damien's brilliant hand writing filled the page.

My dear Kerri.

I am sorry for not coming back sooner, if I had you would have never of been placed in the situation that you were in last night. I know that you worried for my safety even though I told you not to. I want you to know that Kyle didn't mean to over load you with information and fear last night.

I took you to my bedroom after you passed out so you could sleep peacefully and recuperate from the anxiety of what happened last night. Again, I am sorry for not being there when you most needed me. If you awake trying to find me, I am outside discussing matters with my uncle. Kia is making you breakfast I believe, she saw something about you and started to dart around the house and told me to say good morning to you for her. I'll never understand her. I love you with all my heart.

Yours Truly

Damien

Kerri looked up from the note and dropped her hand, Damien blamed himself for what happened last night. She should have known that he would blame himself.

I have to talk to him or he'll blame himself for everything. Kerri thought as she threw the covers off and swung her legs over the side of the bed and rushed out the bedroom door. She could smell bacon cooking and could hear Caleb gagging. Kerri smiled at the thought of one vampire that almost fit into the mythical writings.

"Kia, do you have to torture me?" Caleb's deep voice, followed by singing laughter that could only belong to Kia. Came up the stairs, Kerri took the steps at two at a time holding onto the railing for support. She watched out for the step that Kyle had mangled last night, making sure not to trip.

Jade looked up not only at the sound of Kerri's footsteps, but to her scent as well.

"Well look who decided to wake up, Damien your human is awake!" Jade shouted and her bell voice filled the house. Caleb rubbed the inside of Jade's knee to remind her to be kind. Caleb said something and Jade nodded, then looked at Kerri, her brown eyes tinted with a bit of burgundy.

"Me apologizes Kerri, Damien is outside." Jade said and her voice sounded sincere. Kerri turned and walked to the door, puzzled about Jade, she could see Damien standing underneath an oak tree talking to Alex and Kyle. He had his dark tinted sunglasses on and his black hair shimmered in the sun light making strands of his hair red. She could see the corded muscles of his powerful body through his shirt. She knew that he was powerful just didn't know how powerful. He looked like Hades kinder younger brother, also he looked a bit secluded, withdrawn from the world.
