Fear

Damien never thought that he would feel this kind of fear of losing someone so close to him. He knew that his family could survive, but now that he had Kerri, Damien was terrified to leave her side for even the most necessities. This fear was almost un bearable and the only question that was in his head was the one that he knew that he would never have. What if they had peace? That would never come to pass and he would eventually lose the ones that he loved.

It sounds cold to think of it that way, but it was the only thing that Damien could think about. He had found his light only to have her threatened to be torn from his side. It was unfair and he was going to fight to keep her, Damien looked at Kerri and he knew that she would do the same. Her blonde hair was pulled up into a pony tail and her delicate features held a determined expression that told Damien that she would stay at his side. He couldn't lose her not when he found her after one hundred years of looking.

"Kerri, you have to promise that you will do has I say when it comes to your safety. I have to know that you're safe and that you won't fight me on this."

"Damien-"

"Please Kerri, I need to know that I won't lose you, please promise me Kerri. I can't live without you. I love you and I will follow you if I lose you, so please" Damien could hear his voice crack a little "promise me that you will listen to me." Kerri placed her hand on his cheek and tilted his head up to look at her. Her blue eyes were brimmed with tears,

"I promise Damien that I will listen to you, I'll stay at your side, you won't lose me." Kerri said and hugged Damien

Damien's life was whole when he held Kerri in his arms, Damien felt like he was truly wanted here by someone other than his family. But alongside that feeling was the fear that he couldn't get rid of. How do you deal with the fear of losing someone that was so close to you, of a loved one? How do you deal with it? But now Damien understood what Kyle said about loving Kia so much and why they were always together when they could. Damien understood it now that he found the woman in his arms. He understood the fear that Kyle always had when he didn't have Kia in his line of vision. Damien understood everything clearly now that he had the same fear as everyone else.

"Kerri I made a promise to myself that I was going to protect you and I will. But now that I'm fulfilling that promise I realize that I'm taking your life away from you. By doing that I've became the monster that the myth made us out to be. -"

"Damien, please you're not a monster" Kerri interrupted Damien and he placed his finger over her lips.

"Let me finish, I'm letting you go to work only if I can come with you, you need to be with your kind. I keep forgetting that you're human and humans need to interact with other humans."

"Damien you're not making any sense"

"He never does when it comes to you" Jade said as she studied her nails, Caleb cleared his throat and Jade looked up to see that Kyle, Alex, Nick, and Aaron was looking at her.

"Jade" Alex said in a tired voice

"Sorry, my bad. I'm trying you know, Damien I'm sorry"

"It's okay Jade, Kerri I'm trying to not let this fear of losing you control me."

"I can stay with you if it makes all of this easier on you Damien. I don't want to take you from your family. I won't do that to you or them."

"Kerri, you are my family as well as they are and they understand that. You mean a lot to them as much as you mean to me."

"I won't be the cause of trouble for them, I'm staying here with you and that's final. I love you and I won't burden you with worry." Kerri said and kissed Damien. He smiled into her lips and prayed that he could keep her safe from my kind.
