Kerri looked up at Kyle, his black hair was spiked messy today and he had his heavy tinted sunglasses on and he had his arms folded over his chest. She notices the thick muscles of his neck and followed the thick corded muscles that ran down his arms and over the plains of his chest. Down to a highly impressive abdomen. The thick bands of corded muscle started at his hips and ran the length of his long legs. This man- err vampire was no light weight he looked like he could bench press a house and not break a sweat doing it. Kerri dropped her eyes and shuddered.
He's huge. Compared to him I'm a twig, he could snap me in half without effort and that tattoo is almost the same as Damien's.
But I won't. Kerri jumped at the sound of Kyle's voice in her head and looked away from him.
"How did you do that? How did you speak inside of my head?" Kerri asked as she looked back at him.
"Our kind has the ability to project their thoughts to anyone who they would like to communicate with silently. We try to stay out of the human psyche as much as possible, because it can bend them to our will and we want to seem as mortal as we can. My little thought escaped me and entered your head and for that I'm sorry." Kyle said as he unfolded his arms and pulled a sucker out of his pocket and placed it in his mouth. Kerri saw a glimpse of his fangs. Kerri tilted her head to the side with a confused look on her face. Kyle noticed.
"What's bugging you little humming bird?"
"Well, Nick said that you guys like the taste of human food, but it seems a little weird to see a vampire sucking on a sucker. Also, do you hide your fangs? Or are they always there?" Kerri asked and Kyle laughed.
"It's only weird to you little humming bird because you know the truth about us. But to anyone else we are just ordinary, "
"Ordinary is the wrong word to describe your kind, try the word gods or flawless, those are better." Kerri said as she stood up and took a few steps towards Kyle.
"We are hardly flawless Kerri, all of us as killed your kind at some time in our long lives. We only look that way on the outside to your kind, but we are imperfect and scared on the inside. We don't have a place in the next world Kerri, the only person in this room with that is you."
Kerri cringed at Kyle's resolve of his life, she couldn't understand why they thought that their souls were no longer here and that they didn't have a place in the next life.
"To answer your previous question," Kyle said, pulling Kerri out of her thoughts, making her jump.
"Our canine teeth are more pronounced than yours and we can't hide them, but when we bite we leave full set of teeth prints not just two little pin pricks. See" Kyle took the sucker out and bit his arm, Kerri cringed at the sight of how easy Kyle's teeth seemed to cut threw his skin. Kyle replaced the sucker and showed her where he bit, there was a full set of bloody tooth prints imbedded in his arm, but where the canines hit was a little deeper. Then to Kerri's amazement the bite mark stitched its self together and disappeared. She sat on the couch sorting out the information that Kyle had gave her.
"We heal quickly" Kyle said as he pulled the sucker out of his mouth and licked it. A thought went through Kerri's mind,
"Kyle, why was the canine imprints deeper? Also, Damien said that your poison is lethal if it gets into the blood stream. But is it lethal if it goes straight to the stomach?" Kerri asked and Kyle looked up from his sucker with his eye brow raised. His expression taunting and interested at the same time.
"Our poison is injected through our canines like that of a snake bite. The poison is harmless if it doesn't have a way to enter the blood stream, you swallowed some of Damien's huh?" Kyle asked as he pulled his sunglasses off and placed them on the table. Kerri felt the blood rush to her cheeks and she got up off the couch, stalked up to him and pushed him. Of course, he didn't move an inch, but at least she tried.
