Damien's head was spinning and overly crowded with thoughts and emotions to think clearly. Maybe Kerri was reawakening his humanity, but that didn't explain why he was acting out or even scaring mortals to death. Why, at all times, this has to be the time that he has to act like Kyle? The woods were the only place where Damien could manage to grab hold of his mind and make it stop yelling questions at him. Damien pulled his shirt off and let his body change forms into his wolf form and he stretched to get used to the new form. Grabbing his shirt up off the ground and holding it in his teeth, since this was not his real form.
The forest was alive today, critters like lady bugs, worms, and spiders ran across the forest bed. A white-tailed deer lifted its head from its grazing spot and looked at Damien for a brief second then took off in the other direction. Leaping over fallen logs, animals never came close to his kind even when they were in animal form, knowing that they were predators. Damien walked with his head bent toward the ground. He didn't need the reminder that he was a killer, Damien already reminded himself of that when he scared the mortal Jack with his talents.
Damien walked to a tree that he always sat in when his head was a furnace waiting to blow. Damien positioned himself directly under a sturdy branch, bent at the knees and pushed off with his back legs, lightly leaping onto it. he laid down and rested his head against his paws and closed his eyes. Images of Kerri flashed through his head and chased away the anger and sadness that was eating away at his heart. Ha was happy when he was around her and all that he had to do to keep that happiness was to keep Kerri in his world and life.
"Damien? Damien where are you?" Kerri's voice sounded from the right and Damien turned my head in that direction faster than any living thing could. He watched as Kerri emerged from the trees and into the sun. If his heart could beat it would be stopped by the sheer beauty of Kerri when she was in the sunlight.
Her hair shown brightly and her skin glowed healthy, her blue eyes shined a lighter blue that was breath taken. This was my beloved white rose in all her glory, the one that saved me from the darkness in my heart and the shadows of my past. She was Damien and he was hers for eternity, he would always be hers. Damien quickly shifted back, but when he did he lost his shirt and it fell to the ground and Damien watched as Kerri bent down and pick it up.
"Damien?"
"Look up my little humming bird" Damien said as he hung from the branch, his left leg bent to hold his lower body and his left hand gripped the branch. Kerri looked up and Damien captured her lips with his, Damien felt Kerri smile. The feel of Kerri's lips on his made him forget that he was holding onto the branch, loosening his grip, Damien fell and landed on his back.
Kerri giggled and kneeled at his side and brushed his hair from my eyes.
"That was very human of you, my vampire lover." Kerri said and Damien smiled up at her.
"I have you to thank for that, you're waking up some human traits"
"And that's good"
"Very good for you, bad for anyone of the male gender who looks at you"
"Ooo possessive are we"
"Very, now can I have my shirt back?" Damien asked as he sat up and kissed her, making her lie on her back in the soft grass under the tree. Hands on either side of her head were supporting Damien's weight while kissing her. He kissed down her jaw line and down to her throat, kissing the place where he took blood from her.
"You can when you tell me why it was off in the first place"
"I don't know how to explain it."
"So, you run around the forest half naked just for the fun of it" Kerri said and Damien laughed.
