Chapter four: Cinderella Wont You Stay Awhile

Of the eighteen year's I've been alive, I must say I never thought I could have a friend like Michael. I mean I never thought I could have a friend in general, But now that I have that I feel accomplished.  I feelings as though my life before now, I was nothing but a larvae.  eating off leaves of a secluded life.  But when I moved here, to Gary.  thing's felt different. Even before I met Michael. Now I feel I am in a cocoon. waiting for that moment I become a butterfly.

We speed walk out of my backyard and quickly shuffle into the road heading to Gary's finest ice cream parlor, Jimmy Some IceCream.

we walk up to the parlor and Michael paused breathing hard. Awww you are tired already?, I said in a teasing voice.  He holds a finger in the air while holding his right knee with the other hand. "you.. try.. whoo... you try climbing up and down a tree then running for ice cream and see what I'm feeling right now ",He said between heavy breaths. OK you big baby, He stands up. "those insults count up you know that right? ", I laugh. I'm sure they do now come one I'm in the mood for Rainbow Monkey ice cream with extra sprinkles!, I said grabbing his hand and rushing inside. "You didn't have to drag me " He said looking at our hand's then the menu. I stand beside him fully elated like a kid in the candy store, well in my case the ice cream parlor. Michael order's my Rainbow Monkey ice cream with extra sprinkles  and orders himself Funky Nut Brown chocolate ice cream. "OK your total 13.02" The clerk said. Michael tries to search for his wallet with one hand. "uhh Joya I kind of need my other hand " I cheese and let his hand go quickly while he found his wallet. He paid the clerk and we grabbed our ice cream and walked to the playground. Thank-you Michael it was nice of you to buy me IceCream but I had money to by my own, I said as we entered the playground."you are welcome and you can pay me back later ",oh I can pay you-,He laughs. "I was kinding Joya you don't have to pay me back a deal was a deal but you do have to share ",He said taking his plastic spoon and sticking It in my mini bowl of icecream. Michael! can you ask first?, He laughs licking his spoon."Can we trade? yours is so much better ", I laugh. No Michael you chose that, here makes a pouty face as we find our usual spot we sit at and sat. "fine ",He said playing with his icecream. I sigh playfully and take his and gave him mine. Happy?, "mmmmm " He said through a full mouth.  I laugh seeing his icecream mustache. "what?" He said looking at me completely confused. I laugh harder. lean in, I said trying to control my giggles. I wipe just upper lip with my thumb. You had a  icecream mustache. He pouts "dang I wanted that mustache... you must pay! ",He said glaring playfully at me. "Like the thumb you used to kill Franklin ",I laugh confused. who's Franklin?, "my deceased mustache now like your thumb!",I look at my thumb for a minute and closed my eye's a licked it. I open my eye's and licked my lips. Franklin was delicious muahhaha!, I said mustering up my most evilest face. "that's just wrong... I guess my mouth taste delicious then ",I slowly stop laughing.  most likely does, He smirks. "you want to taste? " He said playfully moving into my face making kissy noises. I push him away. ewww No Michael!, He slowly stops laughing and looks ahead. "They might Be right ",I looked at him confused. Who?, He looks down at his shoes.  Then up at me. "Do You think we will be friend's forever? ",He said seriously looking at me intensely. I look away. I hope so, I said looking back at him. "So just friend's? ",uhh I would hope bestfriends,"oh",Michael what's wrong? please tell me, "My brother's told me we couldn't stay friend's... that feelings change ",I look at him confused. What does that mean?, He sighs. "That... We wont stay friend's forever... might become more... " He said trailing off. Like what?,"girlfriend boyfriend Joya " He said looking down. Oh! i  look at my watch. Michael I-, "Can you at least try to stay a little longer gosh you are Like Cinderella!" I laugh. He stands up and reaches his hand for mine. "come with me and stay awhile Cinderella ", I laugh. OK prince charming where art thou taketh me?, He laughs harder. "To my castle I perhaps my lady " I giggle. Onwards then my good sir!, He laughs and grabs my hand as we start walking.

We reach his house.  I look are him nervously. I  didn't think you were serious Michael, I said letting go of his hand. He looks at me disappointed and concerned. "I'm sorry I thought you knew... I'll take you home ",I nod. We turn to walk to my house but someone call's for Michael. we turn around it's his mother. a short female version of Michael. "Michael honey where are you going? And who are you with invite them in!",She said motioning for us to come in.  Michael looks at me and I nod and we start walking. I grab for his hand feeling nervous while walking behind him. when we get in his mother is all smiles and I are three boy's that look older than Michael but look similar to him. I release my grip of Michael's hand.  "Hey Mich-" One of the brother's said. I presuming he is the eldest. "Well hello I'm Jermaine and where have you been all my life? ", He said reaching out his hand. I gently shake it. "Jermaine manners boy! Hey honey I'm Katherine, my you are as pretty as Michael described " I cheese from her comment. Michael blushes. "alright that's enough from you mother... Joya these are my brother's Tito,Marlon, and Jermaine my sister's are somewhere around here and my father is working ",He said pointing everyone out. Jermaine winks at Me and I wave shyly to everyone. "OK you guys Be starving dinner is on the table Joya honey I'll fix you a plate ",I was going to say no Thanks but she already started. I sighed as we walk into the dining room. after waiting for Katherine we said grace and began to eat. "So you and Michael... "Jermaine said trailing off. Michael glares at him And Katherine shoots him a look.  "Jermaine! " Katherine hissed at him. He put his hand's up in defeat. "I just wanted to know ", it's fine me and Michael are friend's, I said smiling at Michael. Michael gives me half a smile in return. his brother's start snickering. And the rest of the dinner went On with scowls from Katherine And embarrassing looks from Michael.

Michael And I are on our way to my house.  He insisted He walked me. "I'm sorry about my brother's ",He said kicking and invisible pebble as we walked. It's ok they are interesting, "yeah interesting " He said rolling his eye's. I giggle. Why the animosity?, He looks at me while stopping his track's. "You would understand if you lived with them ",He said walking again.  I guess, I said as we reached my house crouching past the windows as we go to my bedroom window in the backyard. Thank-you for The best day ever Michael, He blushes a little. "you are welcome, anytime ",I nod. There was  awkward silence ,all you could hear were the retiring sounds of chirping bird's and the measly sound of 'talking' crickets. "I'll see you Joya ",ok Michael see you have a goodnight, He smiles. then turns to walk away. I start to climb. "Joya? " yeah?,I said walking to him. He stands there for a minute then kisses me on the cheek. "Goodnight and sweet dreams Cinderella " He said quickly turning away and jogging off. I rub My cheek. Goodnight Michael, I said in a low whisper....
