When you talk of a story, there's always a beginning and a end. No one ever pays attention to the middle. it just sits there vaguely being mocked by the plethora of people who overlook it. Do you know the middle is the most valuable part? I am not a college professor myself but I'm much rather a student, at hand. Anyway, the middle is the best part because it's where the beginning ends and the ending begins. It's more so a conjuring of almost ending a story and summarizing the beginning. Now that I've said that, how about we get to my story eh?
I'm Michael. Last perceived as Jackson. I'm a simple 22-year old man from Gary, Indiana . It's crazy when I think about it born in what I guess you could say, the country. Only to move to the city. But yet, of course, I have reasons.
You know the saying, "Love can make you do anything?" And I mean anything? That's what love did. It made me move from home all the way to Cali but I don't mind. I had to be near her. She was and is my everything and I would always find a way to show her that. Even if that meant moving from my childhood home town. When I think about it now, I could say that it was most definitely worth it.
Oh..I'm sure you would like to know her name. Well her name is Joya Riley. She has the soft skin that is decorated with the beautiful color of that of a Hershey bar but more so a shade lighter, her eyes; the darkest of almond. Her smile, the pearliest of whites with indented dimples. Her hair the mix of Indian and African( also known as fine hair). Her persona is nothing but humbleness, love, and serenity. When we first met, when I was 19 and she 18 I will say it wasn't Love at first sight. It frankly wasn't Love anything, it was just two people who world's conjointed at first sight. Well...let's began the real story, shall we?
It was a warm summer's eve. The air was crisp, the birds were returning from their migration. Flowers were blooming more than ever. After the groundhogs failure to proclaim whether winter would be prolonged or spring would finally began, Summer decided to take matters into its hands . That day, for some reason, it felt different. I didn't know what it was and quite frankly, chose not to ponder on it. I told my mother that day I wished to venture to inhabit morning's glory of our first day of summer in the little town of Gary. I walked outside. Taking in nature as I went. I walked until I reached our local park on Jackson street (the irony of my family living on that street). I continued walking and simply paused. I saw this girl, a young girl, about the age of me. might I add she was beautiful, but I've never seen her around here. That's weird considering in Gary, everybody knows everybody. She was swinging on a tire swing, just looking lost in thought. I didn't know whether to approach her or not.
Michael! Just go!, I'm not usually a shy person but I'm not too quaint at meeting new people either. I took in a deep breath and started walking towards her. I finally got close enough but I stopped. How can I introduce myself? Hi I'm Michael!, I started pacing around, "No. That's not going to work!", I was dragged out of thought literally, because I'm guessing she notice me standing behind her while she was swinging. The result, her accidentally knocking ME down while the tire swing dragged me to the ground.
Great! Just great, Michael! ~Put in Italics I cursed myself and stood up rubbing my head. I heard a gasp and I looked up. I'm face-to-face with the stranger. "I'm terribly sorry! I really am are you OK?" She said softly with nothing but sincerity.
I nod, groaning afterwords, "It's okay. It's my fault. I'm ok," I said, sitting on the malt that covered the entire playground.
She sat down, looking unsure. It's silent. "I'm... I'm Joya.. Riley," she said slowly and sheepishly.
I turned to her and reached out my hand, "I'm Michael... Jackson."She gives a shy smile and shook my hand. I got a weird tingling sensation from the momentary physical contact. What was that? I'm guessing she felt it to because we both quickly withdrew our hands. "So.. what brings you to Gary?" I said trying to ease the awkwardness.
"My parents. They wanted a change... something new but it's only momentary
Plus, this place is so loving." She said, lighting up as she looked around.
"So true! I could be a tour guide for you.. if you want?"
She looked down, "That would be nice, how old are you? "
I was surprised by her blunt question. I replied, "I'm 19 and you?"
"18. Michael, it was nice talking but sadly,I must go. I'm missing morning chores," she said, standing up.
I mirrored her action, "I'm sorry. I can walk you..if you want?"
She gave me a shy smile that is all dimples, "Thank-you but no thank-you. My dad would freak." She said, slowly walking away.
"Ok well.. goodbye," she turned around.
"I never say goodbye. It means goodbye forever. I prefer a farewell of some sort because we will see each other again. Won't we Michael? "
I smiled widely, "Year well. Will Joya... well.. I'll see you soon then, Ms. Riley."
She laughed,"See you soon, Mr. Jackson ",I laughed also and watched her disappear along. the street's to her home. Joya Riley... on a summer's eve...
