Going down to the waterfall had started to become a daily occurrence for Peter and I. Fall trips, as I liked to call them, happened everyday, except when Peter disappears for hours. The waterfall was our special little place, we were the only two people to know about it. He would always walk me there and back, living on Neverland was proving that I had a very bad sense of direction. We would swim, laugh, talk, and on some days, he would bring us a little picnic. Neverland was also proving that I couldn't make or find food for myself, I have great survival skills...

Neverland was particularly hot today, I thought I was going to melt like a popsicle. Right about now would be an amazing time for a fall trip, if Peter wasn't busy doing whatever it is he does when he disappears... I circled the camp back and forth twice, just causing myself to get even warmer, and I didn't even find Peter. I wasn't prepared to give up that easily, heat does not work well with me, at all. Perhaps Felix would know where Peter was. If only I knew where Felix could be, he hasn't talked to me in days, some friend he was turning out to be.

It was highly probable that Peter and Felix were at the lake, where most of the lost boys and girls were on this way too humid day. I tried my best to stay clear of the beach area, Becca, who had quickly decided to hate me, liked to hang around there. I really was warm though... I'm sure Holly would be swimming at the beach, I could stay very close to her.

I sighed as I finally decided to go to the beach when I saw Peter walking straight at me. I silently thanked the stars and walked towards him smiling like an idiot.

"Hey..." I said and smiled only for Peter to walk right past me as if I wasn't there. He continued to walk right on through the center of camp without giving anyone a second glance.

"Hey! Hey, Peter!" I called after him. He turned around with a severely irritated look on his face.

"What?" He nearly shouted out at me. I took a step away from, startled at his sudden harsh tone.

"I, umm." I was stunned and couldn't form a coherent word to come from my mouth.

"What do you want, Emerald?" His voice grew even more irritated with each word he spoke. His rudeness was starting to get me a little irritated.

"I'm sorry I'm such a nuisance to you. I just wanted to ask if you wanted to go down to the waterfall because for a second there I thought you actually cared." The heat was getting to my head, and I assumed that was the reason behind his attitude. I searched for any sign of emotion on his face, something, anything!

Nothing.

"I don't have time for you." His words hurt, I thought maybe... Just maybe.

"Fine then," I tilted my chin up and tried not to act offended.

"I'll just go myself." I didn't glance back at him as I stormed away towards the...

Oh damn. I was walking the wrong way. Ugh.

I turned myself around and attempted to hide the defeat in my eyes. Peter was staring at me as I stomped away, that cocky expression all over his face.

"Try not to get lost now." He called after me in a fake worried tone.

That cocky bastard.

*****

"Try not to get lost now." I mimicked his voice as I worked my way through the dense forest.

"I don't have time for you." I continued to mock him on my journey. I had stopped paying attention to where I was long ago. I had no idea if I was even walking in the correct direction anymore.

"Shh, I heard something." I was not alone. I heard hushed voices up ahead of me.

"I didn't hear anything." It was definitely a boy and a girl, but who?
