**Emerald's POV**

After I was saved from drowning by that boy everything was... Strange. That boy had looked at me like he was expecting something from me, waiting for me to say something. When I asked him who he was his face was filled with so much hurt and agony. His eyes had teared up and he grabbed my hand and begged me to tell him it was all a joke. I didn't know how to react or how to comfort him. Before I could even react to my current situation a dark haired girl came running out of the trees screaming happily. She ran at me with her arms open wide and dropped to her knees and hugged me. I squirmed from the discomfort and she backed away slowly noticing that I hadn't hugged her back.

"Em, it's ok, you're safe now. Becca's gone, she can't hurt you." Her blue eyes were shining brightly at me.

"Who is Becca? I don't mean to me rude, but do I know you?" The boy groaned and put his head in his hands.

"Em, it's me, Holly." She smiled at me and laughed nervously.

"I'm sorry, but I really don't believe I know you." The girl's eyes widened and she looked over at the boy.

"Pan, tell her, tell her she knows me." She spoke quickly to the boy and he slowly lifted his head to look at her. His eyes were red and tears fell down his face. The girl looked at him and she brought her hand to cover her mouth as her own eyes began to water.

"You really don't remember me?" She asked incredulously. I stared at the girl and tried to think back. My head felt fuzzy and empty and... Well it felt blank.

"I don't even know who I am. Or where I am." The two stared at me with despair in their eyes. The girl stood up and ran back the way she came.

"Look in my eyes. Look at me and tell me you don't love me." He had grabbed my shoulders and brought our faces close. His eyes held and urgency that I couldn't understand. My eyes had widened at his words and when I held my silence he lowered his head. He stood up and angrily walked to a nearby tree. He rested his head against the bark and suddenly punched the tree. He breathed heavily and once again put his head against the tree. I carefully got up off the sand and took a few careful steps closer to him. He was in agony because of me, because I can't remember.

"What's your name?" He looked shocked that I had spoken to him. It was almost as if he expected me to be scared of him.

"It doesn't matter anymore." He turned from me and walked into the dense foliage of the trees.

"Wait!" I called after him. He turned and a glimmer of hope rested in his eyes.

"I don't exactly know where I am." In a second, I saw that hope vanish from his eyes. He stalked towards me and grabbed hold of my wrist and began dragging me along after him. I silently followed behind as I failed miserably at keeping up with his quick pace. My feet stumbled over themselves and everything else on this path. My fitness level was clearly far below this boy's and I didn't think I could keep up the rigorous pace for much longer.

"Excuse me, but could you please slow down just a little. I don't mean to inconvenience you, I'm just really worn out and my shoulder hurts." I lied, my entire body was in pain, I don't know what happened to me to be in this much pain, but I'm glad I can't remember it.

"Right," He came much to close to me and ripped a piece of cloth from the bottom of my tattered dress. I inhaled sharply and stood very still as I was unsure of what he was doing. He looked at my frightened face and I could feel the anger radiating from his body.

"I'm not going to hurt you." He said while moving himself to stand behind me. My body remained frozen and he carefully placed the fabric around my injured shoulder. He tied it tightly and I winced from the pain.

"Come on quickly now, I don't have the time to slow down for you." He once again stared at me with expectation in his eyes, waiting for some reaction.

"You're not even you anymore." He commented with a hint of hatred in his voice. A guilty feeling overcame me, he was expecting me to be someone, but whoever she was, she's gone now.

"Say something! The Emerald I knew had fire, she wouldn't dare let me tell her what to do! She wasn't scared, but you," He walked quickly to stand before me and stare down at me. "You are simply hollow. You're not Emerald."

As the boy walked away, leaving me utterly confused and drowning in guilt, I couldn't help but agree with him more.

"Is that my name? Emerald." The boy was too far away to hear me. I stared at the direction he had walked and decided to go the other way. Eventually, my feet had taken me back to the beach where I listened to the sound of the waves. I walked along the water until the sound of someone clearing their throat interrupted my thoughts. I looked up to see that girl again, she was carrying a bag and I gave her a suspicious look.

"It's medicine and some bandages. You've been hurt badly, I can help." With a nod from me she came closer and led me to a little part of beach that extended out into the water. She told me to sit down and then she began to fuss over my shoulder.

"My name is Emerald, correct?" She stopped momentarily to look at me and then she nodded.

"What is your name?"

"I'm Holly." She was now behind me wrapping a white cloth repeatedly around my shoulder and arm. I sat and tried to remember her as she begain to wrap the cloth horizontly around my chest and under my arms.

"I'm going to have to change these bandages a few times a day." She was now once again in front of me.

"At least, I think, I'm not really sure. I'm not exactly a doctor or anything, but Pan only trusts me to do this, besides himself of course." I listened to her carefully, trying to gather every last bit of informtion.

"Who is Pan? Is he that boy?" My head was filled with questions, and I felt Holly would sit with me and answer every last one.

"Yes, but you always called him Peter. I think he always liked that you called him by his first name." She smiled at the thought.

"You know, the two of you cared a lot for each other until you... until you forgot."

"Wait what? That is completely absurd." I couldn't grasp the idea of myself with him, not one little bit.

"You two were crazy about one another. He still is about you." Holly smiled sadly, but my head couldn't imagine it.

"Peter and me? But he seems so rude and quite mean." I wrinkled my nose at the thought of him, but the guilt returned when the sadness on Holly's face formed.

"You're so different Emerald. You're not like you, it's like you vanished and a fake you has taken over your body." She turned her head to look out at the sea.

"Pan needs Emerald, but... you're not her. She's gone, she's lost somewhere under those waves."
