You slowly open your eyes, sleep deprivation taking effect on you. You lean over Liam, whose still sleeping, and check the time on the analog clock. It's nearly 2:30 in the afternoon, but you could care less. Last night was dreadful. Liam knocked out Niall and then you had to take him to the hospital. But it could have been worse. Niall could have had a concussion, or lost his memory, or anything. But he didn't, and for that you were greatful.

You remove the covers and slowly get out of bed, crawling over Liam. He was sleeping on his stomach, his hands and arms tucked underneath the pillow. His mouth was slightly hanging open, but all that could be heard was his light breathing. You try to be quiet as possible, not wanting to wake him. He must have been exhausted after last night, and he needed sleep.

You wipe your tired eyes and walk downstairs to the kitchen, where your father is sitting at the table. You feel your eyes widen at the sight of him. You literally haven't seen him in months it felt like. But in reality, it had only been a few weeks. That was still a long time to not see your own father though.

"Dad?" you say when he doesn't look up. He has a glass of water sitting next to him on the table, and he is reading the newspaper. He hears your quiet voice and looks up at you from the paper where his eyes previously were.

He has so much stubble on his face and the dark circles under his eyes define it even more. His hair was a shaggy mess, as if he hasn't cut it in months. He doesn't say anything, except fold the newspaper up and lay it on the table. He slowly pushes the chair out and stands up to walk in front of you. He places his hands on top of your shoulders gently.
"Where have you been?" he asks, looking straight into your eyes.

You laugh hesitantly, "I could say the same for you."

He lets go of your shoulders and drops his hands next to his sides and stands there awkwardly, "I've been at my girlfriends. She's so amazing Brooke. I know you'll love her."

The lust in his eyes is evident. You've never seen him like this before. He actually seems, happy? For once in his life.

"I'm happy for you dad. I have some news for you too.." You say, trailing off.

"What's that?" he asks, shifting his weight to one foot as he slides his hands into his pockets. If he was so happy, why hasn't he been taking care of himself? He looks like a mess.

"Promise you won't be mad?"

He nods, "I promise."

"Okay, so one of my friends got kicked out of his apartment. And, well, he really needed a place to live, and.."

His voice rises slightly, "So you're letting him stay here?"

"Well, yeah, kinda. But it's only temporarily until he can go back out on his own. He's really nice dad, I know you'll love him." You use his own line on him. He catches on and smiles a little.

He sighs, "Alright, where is he at?"

You look towards the hall that Niall's bedroom was down, "He's sleeping."

"At 2 in the afternoon?"

You look away from his gaze, "It's a long story.."

He laughs, "I don't want to know.. Why don't you get ready and you can come meet my girlfriend? I'm actually thinking about proposing to her. I haven't felt this good in so long."

Your eyes widen, "Wow, dad, that's great!" But you were actually kind of shocked. How long has he even been seeing her? 2 months? And he's already thinking about proposing?

You continue on, "I'll go, on one condition."

"What might that be?"

"Please shave and get a haircut." you laugh jokingly.

He smiles, "Fine. I'll shave and go get my haircut. Be ready when I get back."

He walks past you out of the kitchen. But another thought strikes your mind.

"Wait! Dad." you yell after him.

He turns around to face you, "Yeah?"

"Can Liam come? You know, my boyfriend?"

He sighs and contemplates it for a moment. You really wanted Liam to be with you because you weren't good at doing things alone. It would be too awkward to be there alone with dad and his girlfriend.

"Well," he finally says, "since my girlfriend will be there, I guess your man can be there too." he looks a little uneasy about his choice, but at least he was letting Liam go. You loved how he called him "your man".

You smile, "Thanks dad."

He shrugs his shoulders and grabs his coat and walks out the door, shutting it behind him. You rush up the stairs and run into your bedroom. Liam was still laying there asleep. He is actually a really heavy sleeper.

You shake his shoulder, "Liam?"

He doesn't budge, so you shake his shoulder a little harder, "Liam, its almost 3:00."

His eyebrows furrow together as he groans and rolls over, facing away from you.

"Get up Liam. You have to come with me and my dad."

That must have gotten his attention, because he turns back over to face you, "What for?"

You walk over to your closet and decide what to wear for the day, "I have to meet his girlfriend and he said you could come too."

He groans, "I don't want to meet his shitty girlfriend."

You gasp a little at his choice of words, "Liam!"

He shrugs, "Well it's true."

"Just get up. You're going with me."

"No I'm not." he demands.

"Fine, you'll just have to stay here all day and get some bonding time with Niall."

He doesn't say anything. You knew he wouldn't have a choice but to come if you told him about being alone with Niall all day.

You look over at him, and he's standing up from the bed. He rolls his eyes, "Fine. But I'm not going to enjoy one bit of this."

You turn away from him back to your closet, trying to hide your smile.

You finally get ready. You had decided to curl your hair in big, loose waves and place a cute headband in as well. You put a minimal amount of makeup on and decide on wearing a yellow sundress, with white lace around the collar, even though it was super cold outside. You would just wear your coat to help from freezing to death. You wanted to look nice, and the only option you had to do that, was wearing a thin dress. Liam had said you looked beautiful. Something he doesn't actually say too often.

You walk back into your bedroom. Liam still hasn't gotten dressed though. You had an extra toothbrush for him to use here, so he had already brushed his teeth and used some of your dads hair gel to make the front of his hair above his forehead stand up like he usually does.

"Why aren't you dressed yet? My dad will be home anytime."

"I gotta go out to my car and get them." He walks past you as you pick out a pair of shoes to wear. After deciding between heels and flats, you just go for the flats since they were tons more comfortable. And you always seem to make a fool of yourself whenever you wear heels because you didn't know how to properly walk in them without limping or falling on your face.

You hear the bathroom door close, and assume its Liam getting dressed. You grab your purse that hangs across your body and slide your phone in after pulling the purse over your head.

"Brooke, are you ready?!" you hear your dad call from downstairs.

"Yes!" you walk down and join your dad as you wait for Liam.

"I'm gonna go tell Niall we're leaving." You announce to your father. He nods and you trail off down the hallway until you get to Niall's room. You knock on the door, but he doesn't respond. Surely he was awake by now?

You knock a little louder, "Niall?"

He doesn't answer again, so you slowly turn the doorknob and open the door. The room is completely dark, and you immediately spot Niall laying on the bed in the complete darkness. Poor boy. He must be exhausted.

You continue to stand in the doorway, "Niall?" you say loudly. He rustles around a little and shoots his head up, noticing you standing there.

"Oh god, sorry!" he says worriedly.

You laugh, "Sorry for what?"

He rubs his forehead, "I've overslept."

You shake your head, "No, it's fine! I just wanted to let you know that we're all going to meet my dads girlfriend. I just didn't want you to be worried that we had abandoned you or something."

He laughs, "I would never think that."

You shift your weight and lean against the doorframe, "Well you can go back to sleep now if you want."

"Are you kidding? I can't sleep anymore, I'm starving."

You laugh at his remark, "Well go eat then. We will be back later."

"Okay, see ya." he announces as you close the door back. You hear him flick the light on and shuffle around in the room. You walk back down the hall where Liam and your dad wait for you. But they were actually talking.. and, laughing? Were they actually getting along after all this time?

"Sorry to break up the reunion, but I'm ready now." you say as you approach them. They continue laughing and look over at you. You have never seen your dads face so lit up before. And Liam's was pretty surprising too. You didn't even have that type of effect on him. You couldn't help but wonder what they were talking about that was so funny?

Liam looks at you and wraps his arm around your waist as you all step out of the door and walk to your dads car, "Your dad should be a comedian."

"What did he say?" you ask, uneasy.

He laughs a little more, "I'll tell you later."

He'll tell you later? Why can't he tell you now?

You purse your lips, "Okay.." Liam lets you ride shotgun while he takes the back. The ride there is filled with your dad and Liam's laughter as your dad tells stories of when he was a teenager and how he was at a restaurant and he accidentally went into the women's restroom, and an old lady beat him with her purse and called him a pedophile. You had to admit, it was a bit funny. But your dad took it to extremes and exaggerated it a little too much and had Liam laughing like you've never heard him laugh before. Your dad was just as bad. You were surprised that he was even driving by how hard he was laughing. You stare out the window and try to ignore all the old stories your dad was telling.

When you arrive at his girlfriends house, you're a little surprised. She lived in a beautiful log cabin that had to be at least 4 stories high.

"Wow." you say shockingly. The other two men didn't hear you though because you mainly had said it quietly to yourself.

Liam joins your side and presses his lips on your ear, "Whats wrong?"

You shrug your shoulders, "Nothing."

"We'll talk about it later. Don't think you're getting away with this." He says and attaches his arms around your waist again. You notice a four car garage and a huge log shed sitting next to the house. This place was massive. Why would she need all this space if she lived alone?

All three of you walk up the steps and your dad leans in to ring the doorbell. You hadn't even taken the time to notice how great your father looks now. He actually shaved and got his hair cut. His dark hair was gelled up on top, causing it to stick up in a few places. His chin was clean cut, no more dark stubble. His eyes still held the dark bags, but his appearance still looked loads better than before.

The door opens and a woman appears. Your mouth falls open and you can't believe who is standing there..
