"Mom..." Thirdy walked slowly towards his mother. "I'm so sorry." Tears were streaming down his face as he hugged his mother.

His mom, Maine, hugged him back and kissed him on the forehead. "It's not your fault." She, too, was crying. They were both outside the room of Richard, her husband and his father, inside the intensive care unit.

"I'm afraid of what might happen to him. He hasn't woken up yet." They were staring at Richard. Tubes and medical apparatuses are connected to him. A mechanical ventilator is helping him breathe as his normal respiratory functions haven't returned yet. Beside him sat Charmaine. She held her father's hand while she cried.

"It's going to be okay. I believe it is. We did our best, dad. It's up to you now. Please wake up." Charmaine repeatedly said.

"Sis, it's my turn to watch over him since I'm on duty tonight. You go ahead and rest." Thirdy patted his sister on the back. She looked at him, nodded then left, taking their mother with her.

When the two were gone, Thirdy sat beside his father. He held his hand as he wept.

"Dad, I'm sorry. I gave your heart too much stress. I shouldn't have done that. I shouldn't have told you. I still don't know if you hate me or not but I want you to know that no matter what happens, I love you and I'll be here for you, always." He placed his head on his father's shoulder.

Due to exhaustion, Thirdy fell asleep beside his dad. When nurses came to check up on them, they decided not to disturb him because he had enough stress for the day. And besides, he wasn't the only Cardio-Thoracic surgeon on call that night. He deserved the break.

Thirdy woke up to the movement of tightening fingers on his hand. He immediately got out of his sleepy haze, and looked up. His eyes met his fathers, smiling at him.

"Dad! Thank God!" Thirdy held his father's hand tighter, kissed his forehead and repeatedly apologized.

His father nodded and with his free hand, patted Thirdy on the cheek. Everything was going to be okay.
