"When were you gonna tell me?" Charmaine paced the attending's lounge while she glared at Thirdy.
"It just happened." Thirdy had his head down. He was too afraid to look at his sister because of what happened. He's so ashamed of what she just witnessed at the patient's room.
"Is that why you had Sebastian's mom's surgery pro bono? How long have you two been dating? Exasperated, Charmaine sat on one of the couches. She took off her surgical bonnet then untied her hair.
"No. It just happened in the room. It's not like I fraternized with a patient. It was the relative." He raised his head then slowly looked at her sister. "And also, I'm gay."
"You've got a point and you being gay is not the issue. Also, just be thankful that it was me who saw you doing God knows what in that room instead of the nurses. You know how fast rumors spread in this hospital." She stood back up then sat beside Thirdy before giving him a hug. "So...when are you going to tell mom and dad?"
"Do I really have to?" Thirdy took a deep breath then sighed. "I mean... it's freaking me out."
"You have to. It's the least you can do. They have been giving us what we need and what we want in life and keeping secrets like this, our life, who we love, is not what they would want for us. You have to tell them. They're not gonna hate you. It's like you don't know who our mom and dad are." Charmaine hugged her brother again.
"You don't keep secrets from them, do you?" Thirdy said when he broke from the hug.
"I don't. I know in myself that I'd do anything for them but, sometimes, that's not enough. I tell them things. I want to let them know that they raised me to be the woman I need to be. And, you should to." Charmaine laughed. "So you could date our patient's son."
"Shut up." He playfully jabbed his sister's arm.
"You know. His name sounds really, really familiar." Charmaine said. She looked at Thirdy who agreed that he really was familiar.
