The Royals were playing the Marlins in Miami and Eric had wanted me to come down and meet his parents since we have been dating for over a year now and we've just been so busy with everything that I haven't had time to properly meet them.

They were coming to the hotel to go out to lunch with us and then head over to the stadium for the game. I hope this meeting goes well because I'll be sitting with them at the game and I'm really nervous.

There was a knock on the door and I was in the bathroom getting ready for the day and Eric opened it. "Mom, I've missed you." I hear him say. "Now where's this girlfriend, I'm dying to meet her." She said and I laughed a little poking my head out of the bathroom.

"I'm right here, I'm finishing up getting ready." I said with a smile. She smiled back at me and I went back and did the finishing touches on my natural makeup that I had put on and straightened my hair a little bit more. Miami weather makes my hair frizzy.

I walked back out to the room and gave Eric a side hug and the put his arm around my waist. "Mom and dad, this is my lovely girlfriend Camille, babe this is my mom Ileana and dad Mike." He said formally introducing us.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. and Mrs. Hosmer, I've heard so many great things about you." I said sticking my hand out to shake hers but she pulled me into a hug. "Dear, don't call us Mr. and Mrs. Hosmer, it makes mus feel old." She said with a laugh.

"Sorry, I'm a teacher so I'm used to calling people Mr. and Mrs." I said with a laugh and she looked at me funny. I shook it off and looked at Eric. "Ready to go?" He asked and I nodded and so did his mom. I grabbed my bag and Eric grabbed his baseball bag and we went into the elevator and down to the lobby where we got into Eric's parents car and off to the restaurant.

His dad asked most of the questions while we were at lunch, his mom didn't say much, which I thought was odd. His dad was really impressed how much I knew about baseball. "Before I started dating Eric, I was already into baseball and knew a lot of the game. I was born and raised a Kansas City Royals fan." I said and his dad nodded approvingly.

"What are you going to do if he ever gets traded?" His mom finally spoke up for the first time since we got here. "Well if that ever happens, which I highly doubt because the Royals organization is so fond of him and all his work that he does, I'll go wherever he goes. Whatever team he gets traded to will be my new favorite team." I said with a smile and his dad keep talking to me about baseball and everything in my life.

I don't know why his mom wasn't talking so much. Eric paid the bill even though I tried to help him and his parents did also, but he said he was treating us because he barely gets to see his parents and he barely sees me throughout the season because of my work.

We got into their car and went over to the stadium and into the club house. I went over to Stephanie who happened to be on this road trip. "How's meeting the parents going?" She asked as I sat down next to her. "Great except his mom only asked me one question during lunch, his dad loves me because I know a lot about baseball." I said looking over at Eric and his mom who seemed to be deep in conversation. I wonder what they're talking about.

ERIC'S POV

I sighed as I was putting stuff away into my locker. I was quite mad that my mom didn't say anything during lunch, but I'm happy that my dad likes her. "I don't like her sweetie." My mom says coming up to me. I rolled my eyes but not so she could see.

"Why not mom?" I said turning to her. "Because I don't think she's into you! She seems more into baseball than she is you." She said and I sighed. "Mom that's what I like about her, she loves baseball and so do I, it's something that we share." I said putting on my cleats.

"Well you need someone that stays at home and takes care of you, not has other people to worry about." She said, now that made me mad. "Mom I don't need someone who stays home all the time, I don't need a housewife and she loves her job. She's a preschool teacher and she loves kids, why would you even say that?" I said finally looking at her.

"Well I just want whats best for you honey, you know that." She said and I stood up and gave her a hug. "Mom, she's whats best for me. You gotta get to know her before you judge her. She knows what to say to me when I had a bad game and when I come home, she has dinner waiting for me or my favorite after game snacks to cheer me up. I like that she's not sitting at home waiting for me to come home from a ten game road trip, her job keeps her occupied. Get to know her ma." I said kissing her forehead and then going over to Camille to give her a kiss before heading to BP.

CAMILLE'S POV

I watched the whole conversation they were having and Eric was getting heated about something and I knew they were talking about me and I knew his mom didn't like me. This was going to be a long game.

Finally we all went up to the suites where we were sitting and I took a seat in the first row and took a picture of the field like I do when I always go to one of the games. Someone sat next to me and it was his mom.

"Look I'm sorry I really didn't talk much at lunch, I was trying to get a read off of you to see if you're right for my son." She said and I gave her a smile. "It's quite alright, I'm a very hard person to read, but once you get to know me I'm an open book." I said and she smiled and started asking me questions about my family and stuff.

I was looking onto the field while talking and Eric was looking up at us and he gave me a thumbs up and a blew a kiss to me and I did the same to him. "What was that for?" She asked after I blew Eric a kiss. "Oh it's something me and Eric do before every game that I'm at. He gives me a thumbs up and then blows me a kiss and then I do it back."

She smiled and we talked about Eric's childhood and she told me embarrassing stories about him and I couldn't wait to make fun of him later. All in all, it turned out to be a really good day and a really good game.
