Off Day~Greg Bird

Today was one of those rare off days for Greg and he just wanted to lay in bed all day and give his body a rest from all the traveling and training he's been doing for the post season that was quickly approaching the team. 

I had gone out shopping yesterday and got all of our favorite junk foods for the day we were going to spend in bed, cuddling and watching movies. "Mikayla, where are you going?" Greg groaned as he woke up as I was leaving the bedroom. 

I smiled and leaned down to give him a kiss. "I'm going to make us some breakfast in bed. I'll be back. Get Netflix set up and then we'll start our day off." I said and he nodded and laid his head back on the pillow, he was definitely going to fall back asleep. 

"Mr. Delicious, care to help me make breakfast?" I asked as our cat jumped on the counter next to me. He meowed and I laughed at him, I sounded stupid talking to a cat, but I didn't care, no one was around. I didn't name him either, Greg did. 

I ended up making his favorite, blueberry pancakes and bacon with some apple juice. "Greg, wake up, breakfast is here." I said as I walked into the room, I knew he was going to fall back asleep. "I'm sorry babe, I didn't mean to fall back asleep, I've just been really worn out with this season already." 

"I totally understand babe, you need your rest, you guys are gonna go to the World Series this year and you're going to need all the rest you can get." I said kissing his cheek as he took a bite of his pancakes. 

"Can I just take you to the ballpark with me so you can cook for the guys? You're such a good cook." He said as he scarfed down his food. "Well I mean I didn't go to cooking school for nothing." I said as I put the tray on the ground. "Ready for our movie marathon?" I asked as I turned on Netflix.

"As ready as I'll ever be!" He said grabbing me and bringing me into his arms and forcing me to cuddle him as if I didn't want to. Greg and I have been dating for two years now and all we do in our free time is cuddle, wether it be on the couch or in bed. 

Even in the clubhouse, he always has his arms around me, not that I'm complaining, in public I would like to have a little more freedom. "Are you happy with me?" Greg asked after the second movie we watched. 

"Is that even a question? Of course I am. Why would you think differently?" I asked turning my head towards him and he had a sad look on his face. "Because I'm never home most of the time. I'm off in a different state and you're stuck here with Mr. Delicious and taking care of the house. I feel like I should be home more." He said, he was quiet and when he's sad that's how he is. 

"Babe, you know I don't think of it as being stuck here, I love being here and I love watching you play baseball because it's your job and it's what you enjoy. Don't feel like you should be home more, being away is your job and I can handle it." I said grabbing his face in my hands and rubbing his cheeks. 

"I don't deserve you." He said with a sigh. "I feel the same way Greg, you're way out of my league. Or should I say you're 'way out of the park'." I said and he smiled. "You're too cheesy. I love you though." He said. 

I leaned in and kissed him. "I love you too Greg, never doubt that I'm not happy with you again okay?" I asked and he kissed me again. "I won't, me and Mr. Delicious here have nothing to worry about when you're around!"
