Okay, so life hit me like a truck this past month. So yeah, that hope for finishing HBW before 2016 ends is getting slim. I also figured out my newfound hatred for Physics. Anyway, here's the update, and thanks for reading!

When we hit the road once again the sun was setting over the desert. It didn't take long for Daren, Megan, and Ruri to fall back asleep. The goal was to make it to Oakland, but, seeing as we were losing daylight we ended up at a little Hotel in Modesto. In actuality it looked more like a large house than a hotel. It had a very beachhouse vibe even though we were nowhere near the ocean. Clayton parked the car, and we both disembarked. We left Ruri, Megan, and Daren in the car, locking the doors as well. The lobby was quaint, not uber extravagant, but nice and homey. Clayton tapped the little bell, and a guy appeared from the back. He was Middle aged, with pronounced cheekbones and cropped black hair .
"What can I do to help you?"
"Can we get 2 rooms for the night?" Clayton asks, he smiles trying to seem overly friendly.
"Yeah that'll be...$159.80 without tax" he surmised, giving an expectant look up at us.
"We'll take it" Clayton quips, pulling out his card. The man nods his head, and completes the transaction. He slides us our key cards, which I stuff into my back pocket. Clayton deftly places his card back into his wallet, and motions towards the doorway.
"You can park in the back" the manager adds, "Here." He hands me a parking pass, and we set off on our way. Daren had already started unloading some bags.
"We don't need to take everything down with us. Here, let's just dump our clothes into this bag, and anything else into this other bag." I explain. After twenty minutes of reorganizing, and parking the car into the back we meandered to the entrance.
"I'm liking it very beachy" Ruri comments animatedly. Daren and Clayton lugged our two bags through the hotel. Megan waved at the manger and soaked in the decor of the hotel. Settling in was simple, the rooms were opposite of each other and we split off. Clayton, and Daren grabbed their clothes.
"Night, doll" he mumbles, kissing my forehead.

I woke up to knocking on our hotel door. I turned over, elbowing Megan slightly in her ribs. She in turn elbowed me back in her unconscious state. I groaned, and trudged towards the door. I looked through the peephole, and there was Clayton standing relaxed outside the door. The door opens with the click of the handle bar.
"Clay, what's happening?" I ask. I leaned slightly against the doorway. He grinned at me, and took my hand.
"We're going to the roof" he says nonchalantly.
"Of this hotel" I say with a raised eyebrow, pointing down at the ground.
"Yes this hotel" Clayton retorts.
"Right now" I add.
"Raven, just follow me" Clayton say, a smirk on his face. I threw up my hands in surrender. I shrugged on my oversized denim jacket, and grabbed the room key. I quickly untied my mouchwa. I followed Clayton to the staircase at the end of the hall. The climb was brief, and we didn't exchange any words. All that was heard were my tired huffs of having to go up stairs. We reached a "DO NOT EXIT" sign over a door that marked the finality of our climb.
