“So how was your date?”, Eddie asks as soon as Aleks walks in the door. Aleks tries to minimize the glorious smile on his face, knowing full well that his face resembles a little boy who just bought a candy store.
“It was... good.”, Aleks explains briefly, “Not sure I'll see her again though.”
Eddie eyes him as Aleks moves to hang up his jacket, jaw set. “I'll bet.”
Aleks tries to keep his demeanour in check as he finishes with his jacket and turns to face Eddie once again. He looks over Eddie's straight form which surprises him more than anything since Eddie pretty much lives in the permanent position of slouching. Eddie can't possibly know about what he did. He was careful, leaving only what he wanted the cops to see. He covered his tracks, it isn't possible-
“So how was Doctor Fitzgerald?”, Eddie asks.
Fuck.
“I... dunno what you're talking about.”, Aleks says, moving deeper into the apartment and past where Eddie sits on the couch in the living room. Aleks walks towards the kitchen and opens the fridge for a drink while Eddie follows, leaning against the nearest wall with his arms crossed.
“Aleks.”, Eddie presses, “Don't lie to me.”
“I'd never lie to you.”, Aleks replies smoothly, cracking open his can of Pepsi and closing the fridge door. His hands are still shaking with the adrenaline pumping through his system as he leans against the kitchen counter. It's like the after moment of an orgasm where the world could be falling apart and he wouldn't really care because his body just feels too good.
“Bullshit, you're lying right now.”, Eddie counters, stepping up to stand right in front of Aleks. Aleks could never be intimidated by his roommate though since he could rival the cheeriness of an animated cartoon character. Despite how hard Eddie is trying to stand up to Aleks, all he can hear in his ears is that golden giggle and the ecstatic greeting of “What's up, homies, it's Slyfoxhound!”
“I was with that girl, I told you. How would I know how the quack Fitzgerald is doing?”
“Why are you lying to me?”, Eddie growls, “I thought we were done with the lying. Last time you lied to me, Tiff-”
“Don't fucking say that bitch's name!”, Aleks shouts, slamming his can onto the counter behind him. His ecstasy like high is gone, replaced by the boiling anger that been building in him since Eddie picked up that phone to call Fitzgerald. “Tiffany was a fluke, a mistake. How many times am I going to have to tell you that?”
“It's hard to believe you when you do shit like this! Aleks, he didn't even do anything to you! He's been trying to help you.”
“Yeah, he said the same thing. Making me feel like shit and treating me like I'm crazy is not my definition of 'helping'.”, Aleks mind is going a mile a minute, each part of him fighting with the other. He could kill Eddie right now. He could get rid of his biggest problem and only solution in one fell swoop. If Eddie keeps pushing him like this, it might come to that.
He can see Eddie biting his tongue, as if he was holding himself back from saying something. Aleks doesn't need a college degree to understand what Eddie is holding back. “What was going through your head?”, Eddie asks in a slightly calmer tone, “What could you possibly be thinking to think that this was the solution to your problem?”
Aleks stands stock still, holding his ground, as he responds, “I told you I didn't want to see him. You didn't listen to me, so I took matters into my own hands. In a way, this is your fault.”
“My fault? Just because I didn't listen to you one fucking time? Aleks, you are an adult in a rough fucking world. You aren't always going to get your way especially since you obviously can't take care of yourself! You of all people should know that!”, Eddie shouts, his hands going up into the air in frustration.
