When he's not half asleep, it turns out that Jordan has very little confidence.

This morning, it seemed so easy to just go blurting Aleks' name and dragging out whoever this Seamus guy is in with Aleks. It occurs to him now that he can't prove it and juries are all about cold, solid evidence. There's no such thing as abstract evidence and it's pretty obvious that they would question Jordan further for some kind of proof other than “Well that Aleks guy killed my best friend,s o he must have killed my soon to be wife.” Hell, he can't even prove that Aleks killed James because Seamus' fucking clean up crew erased every single piece of evidence possible. He has Dan looking all over the house for some sort of evidence just in case, but that doesn't help with this interrogation.

“Mr. Mathewson, is there anyone who was a definite enemy of Ms. Chen?”

He could say it right now, but he needs some sort of proof, even if it's shallow. Anything to point to Aleks. If he can point to Aleks, he can convict the James' murderer and maybe drag Seamus down for being associated with Aleks. But how can he explain this?

“There is this one guy.”, Jordan begins.

“Yes?”, the cop in front of him leans forward, deeply interested in the next few words that come out of Jordan's mouth.

Come on Jordan, think. Something that has a least a little bit of substance behind it. Aleks could... well it must be easy to figure out that he was in Colorado. There has to be ticket records or plane records. That's a good start. Maybe... Aleks could have had a previous problem with Monica. Something like how when Jordan first told the guys that he got engaged, Aleks was dead set against it because of something she said to him when they first met. That... well it's something.

“There's this one guy in my Youtube group. Well, he's not really in my Youtube group, but he's friends with one of the other guys. His name is Aleks. When I told him about Monica and I, he wasn't exactly accepting. They had had a quarrel earlier on when I first started dating her. It wasn't pretty.”, Jordan explains and he tries not to fumble on his words. He's gotta make this story work because it could lead to justice for James as well. He avoids fiddling with his fingers as much as the subconscious desire is there.

“Aleks...”, the cop trails off, writing the name down on his pad of paper. “Do you have a last name?”

“Vitaly. Do you need that spelled out for you?”, Jordan sounds too eager. He has to keep himself in check. He can't gloat over revenge just yet. “Um... yeah. They had disagreed a lot in Skype conversations that were supposed to be rather professional. He had actually told me to break it off with her not long after those arguments started.”

“Is there a possibility that Aleks could have been jealous of your relationship with Monica?”

Yeah. He can work with this. A lovers quarrel. “Yeah, that was it. He had admitted some time before I met Monica that he had feelings for me that were beyond friendship. I thought he was over it once I introduced the group to Monica, but there's a chance that he wasn't entirely over me. He had actually come by the house a little while ago claiming he was in love with me.” There's only two kinds of motives for murder; love and power. On paper, this story makes sense. Jordan may have just pulled this off.
