“So we're back?”
Kevin wanted noodles. He always does. Seamus took him out like the nice guy that he can be. The lunch rush has long gone through and the waitress that served them cleans tables close by, a glare having settled on her face since her boss won't let her go on break until him and Kevin are gone. Kevin keeps ordering plates of noodles every once in a while, just to keep her busy.
“Did we every really leave?”, Seamus questions, fiddling with the paper that once held his chopsticks.
“You did kick me out of your house that one time when I got caught trying to snipe down that one guy for you. Well first you fucked the shit out of me and then kicked me out. Kinda mixed signals there.”, there's a slight bitterness in Kevin's voice that piles guilt onto Seamus' shoulders. Seamus is pretty sure he doesn't mean it. They have a complicated past to say the least, but somehow they always end up back together.
“I'm really sorry.”, Seamus says sullenly, “I can't really tell you I didn't mean it, but I know I can't loss you now.”, he can't meet Kevin's eyes. That would be too much for him. “I need you to do this for me, Kevin, or we're both done.”
“Define done.”
“As in buried six feet underground with a pissed off Aleks and a pissed off Jordan. And you've seen Aleks.”
Kevin nods, understanding. “Excuse me for asking, but I've always wondered. When we... parted ways that first time, was it because of Aleks?”
Kevin knew all about it, that deep rooted obsession and Aleks' face plastered over every single screen Seamus owned. Most nights, Seamus wouldn't come to bed with Kevin, watching Aleks sleep in a dark room like a bomb that was on the edge of exploding. Seamus is sorry for it all, knowing that Kevin didn't deserve to be treated like that. In a way, kicking Kevin to the curb ending up being beneficial to all of them.
“You could say that.”, Seamus replies.
“Seamus, can you promise me that you won't lose yourself again with this?”
Kevin knows more about Seamus than Seamus ever could It's like there's a mini Kevin in his head, digging through filing cabinets and skimming across records. Because of this, Kevin knows better than anyone that no one can drive Seamus insane like Aleks can. If Aleks hadn't killed Maddie when he did, god only knows where Seamus would be right now. It's just a pity that sweet little Maddie, Seamus' long time high school sweetheart, had to lose her life to get Seamus on track.
“I don't know if I can promise you that.”, Seamus admits, “It's... a complicated matter.”
“Can you at least try?” As a shot in the dark, Kevin reaches his hand across the table, pulling one of Seamus' hands into his own and tearing the thin chopstick paper. Seamus is hesitant before letting Kevin lace his fingers through the gaps in Seamus'. Seamus looks down at their joined hands, completely missing the look of longing in Kevin's eyes that a man on the moon could probably see.
Without a word, Seamus' nods, utterly fascinated with his hand in Kevin's.
