Ch39- Attempting To Kill

Aphmau's P.O.V.

I'm sitting by the bay window looking over the forest. I miss being home, I miss stealing and I miss being able to live by my own rules. Being in a castle might be some people's idea of fun but not mine.

I just hate how I can't go see my friends. Of course I enjoy being with everyone here but it's not home, it's not where I want to be. Garte has been insulting me non stop and Ivy's been bugging me  about everything I do.

I'm hungry so I'm going to the kitchen. Teony will be finished with breakfast so all I need to do is grab my plate. I'd rather eat in the kitchen with her than in the dining room with Garte. Hopefully I don't run into anyone in the way.

I open my door and walk down the hall. I am walking silently and I can't hear anyone. This is perfect. Just as I'm about to turn into the main bass I hear someone run up to me. I turn to see Garte glaring at me.

"Can I help you?" I ask

"You, you are a bad influence on my sons!" he yells

"Well I'm a thief, so kind of" I say as though it is obvious

"My sons have begin to ignore me and dislike me" he replies

"That's not my fault, I can't control how your sons feel about you" I say "Your sons are neglecting you because all you've ever done is be horrible to them"

I turn around and suddenly I'm pushed to the ground, I feel my head hit the ground. I look up to see Garte pointing a sword at me. I move quickly and jump onto te hand railing for the stairs. I see Garroth, Vylad, Aaron, Laurance and Travis coming up the stairs. I need to wrap this up quick,

"Garte leave now and you won't get hurt" I say

I lunges at me with his sword and I dodge it easily. I hit him with a quick punch under his arm making him drop his sword. I kick him and he falls to the ground, oh how I wish I could push him down the stairs but if I do I'll get into a lot of trouble.

I quickly run away and I hear Garroth calling out to me. Luckily I'm faster than them so I can loose them easily. I make it to the garden and I catch my breath. I hide behind a tree and make sure no one spotted me.

It starts to rain so I climb the tree, luckily the rain doesn't get to me here. I hear footsteps and I see Ivy.

"Aphmau where are you!" I hear her scream "You attacked Lord Garte you disgusting freak"

I swing upside down on the branch hanging from my knees.

"Actually I defended myself, I also gave him a chance to walk away but he didn't" I say "I acted in self defence and not out of malicious intent so move along"

I feel her hand on my arm and she digs her nails into me

"Let me go" I say

She pulls my arm and I fall out of the tree on top of her.

"That's your fault" I say getting off of her

"Ugh I'm sick of you" she replies grabbing her swords and running at me

I jump up into the tree and jump from tree to tree. I quickly jump to another tree and then another, Ivy stands under me trying to hit me with her swords. I'm soaked by the rain but at least I'm not wearing an extremely long dress that I can't run in.

Suddenly I slip and fall, I scream but a hard landing never comes. I feel myself in a pair of strong arms. I look up to see Jeffory glaring at Ivy,

"What are you doing?" He asks her

"I'm carrying out Garte's orders" Ivy replies

"Aphmau has not done anything, she acted in self defence. You are disobeying the law" Jeffory says

Two guard take Ivy's arms and they pull her away to the dungeon. Jeffory walks to my room with me still in his arms. I start feeling cold and eventually I'm shivering,

"You can put me down now" I say

'Nope, you are freezing. You'll use up a lot of energy if you walk" he replies

"That's not a thing" I exclaim

"It is now" he says and walks into my room

He puts me down and I walk to my closet. I close the doors and tell Jeffory not to come in. I get changed and dry off my hair.

I walk back into my room an Jeffory is standing there holding a pigeon.

"Hey, you can use this to send a message to your friends" he says "They must be worried about you"

We spend the next few hours writing messages to my friends and sending them with Messi bar pigeons. I need to stay here and finish up everything. I still have an unsettled argument with Garte and I need to say goodbye to Aaron and Cloud,

Garroth's P.O.V.

I headed everything g my father said. He is in his room resting. I am so sick of him being rude and cruel to Aphmau. I barge into his room and look at him.

"Father you need to leave Aphmau alone" I say "She has done nothing to you and nothing to us. All you are coming is attacking her for no reason"

"But she is a thief, she is bad" He replies

"She is doing what she has to do to survive" I say "It's not an amazing things to do but she has no choice. Not everyone is as rich as you. The people out int he streets are starving and dying but we don't help them. We have a responsibility to them. Aphmau is one of the best people I know."
