Ash's p.o.v.

"Mom." I say coming into her room, she's sitting on her bed eating ice cream and watching Gilmore girls.

"Come here honey, take a seat with mama." She pats the spaces besides her. "What's up?" She asks once I sit down.

"I saw Ash's dads today." I say.

"You did?" She asks surprise.

"Yeah." I whisper.

"How'd that go?" She asks.

"Like garbage." I say taking a spoonful of ice cream.

"Tell me the details." She orders. I tell her everything from beginning to end. She wasn't quite happy with anything she seems quite bothered. "I'll talk to Nicolas about this." She frowns.

"What's wrong mom?" I ask.

"I feel like I've been keeping you guys away from your father." She admits.

"No you're not. It's our choice whether we want to talk to him or not. I'm the one who decided not to, I don't want to speak to him." I say.

"I know baby. It was harder on you." She pulls me into a side hug. "You saw everything." She says.

"I did mom and I hate him because of what he did to you. He hurt the most wonderful loving woman anybody would be lucky to have standing by their side. He ruined your marriage, he ruined our family and Jake's family." I say.

"I know he did, Luke still hates him for it. Luke was an angry man, now he has a loving partner. She's wonderful, have you meet her?" She asks.

"Yes mom I have, she's wonderful. She's wonderful for him. What about you mom?" I ask.

"I'm fine how I am." She says.

"You haven't told me about Nicolas." I raise my brow at her.

"Ohh he's lovely, absolutely amazing. He's coming over tomorrow." She says.

"Second date?" I ask.

"Third." She corrects me.

"Really wow?" I ask surprise.

"Mom I'm happy for you. Nicolas is a great guy, you deserve it. I'm glad you're happy and Nicolas just makes you're life better." I say.

"I am too baby. I am too. Plus we need no man to be happy, we're woman we can do anything we set our minds to." She says.

"Yes mama." I say as she strokes my hair. "Mama?" I break the silence.

"Yes baby?" She asks.

"Did you feel anything when you encounter him?" I ask.

"If I'm being honest, no honey. I mean yeah he made it posible for me to have four amazing kids. He made me happy while it lasted. Did you feel anything with Jake?" She asks.

"Yeah." I say fiddling with my fingers. "I feel guilty, cause I'm seeing Derek." I say.

"Baby, he was you're first for many things. Things with you and him ended up not so well." She says.  "You guys didn't kiss or anything, right?" She asks.

"No kissing, just me trying to make him leave. Avoiding him like he's the plague, not my type." I say.

"Baby clam down you're blabbering. So how are things with Derek?" I see her having a little smile on her face.

"He's amazing, he jumped in action during dinner. He's protective mama, over me." I say.

"I can't believe you hated this boy." She says with amusement laced. "Now you're head over heels over him." She says.

"I can't either." I say breathless. She's right I hated Derek at first but now I like him a lot or how mama would say I'm head over heels for him.

"Derek and Ash are totally considered the golden couple." I hear some girls say on the other row say as I'm looking for a new book since our English teacher wants us to do a book report.

"But have you seen Nate and Ash they're so cute. Like we're finally seeing Ash and Nate settle." One of them say.

"But we know that Derek always had a thing for Ash. He would do things to get her attention, it's honestly so cute." I hear the other one says. Dam they pay so much attention to my life.

"Even when she was dating Jake. He's back and he's hotter than ever." Says the one that said that Nate and Ash are cute.

"Ash." I look up and see Jake.

"Jake." I say.

"Still reading the books?" He asks. I nod my head. "Anything you'd like to recommend me?" He asks. I shake my head. "Come on Ash you'd always had something to recommend." He says.

"I currently don't." I say.

"Are you recommending it to someone else?" He asks.

"I have a book, it's called Slated by Teri Terry." I say.

"I read it you recommend it in 8th grade cause you feel in love with the book." He says.

"What about The List by Siobhan Vivian?" I ask.

"Haven't read that one." He says.

"Then go read it." I say.

"Thanks Ash." He says. I nod my head and leave him standing there.

"I heard you were talking with Jake." Ash says.

"He came up to me and asked me to recommend a book and I did." I say.

"Does Derek know?" She asks.

"No, it doesn't matter. It's not important." I say.

"If you say so." She shrugs. I roll my eyes at her comment.

"If you excuse me I have practice." I say walking towards my locker to drop off my books. Once I drop off my books I make my way toward the field, where I see Derek talking to some of the boys. He runs his hand through his hair and licks his lips. I wait until he's done talking with the boys and I make my way towards him.

"Can we talk after practice?" I ask him.
