Chapter 3. Harry
"So," Liam said, talking to Sophia on the phone, "I was thinking, tomorrow after Cassidy gets home from school, us three could spend some time together. You two could, you know, bond, and maybe we could get passed the wall you guys seem to be hitting." I heard her say something back, but I couldn't understand it. "Well, I suppose you don't have to." She said something else. "No, Sophie you don't have to." Her voice got louder. "No I'm not-But you've got- So- She hung up on me."
"Why?" I asked, "You were just asking her if she wanted to hang out with you and your little sister. You know Cassy isn't her biggest fan, but at least she makes an effort. Unlike Sophia."
"I know. I don't understand either. My two favorite people in the entire world, and they can't stand each other."
"I'm sorry, mate. Must suck."
"It does," he said, drearily, "It really does." It would break his heart if he found out his best friends didn't like her either. So I keep quiet about that for now.
Instead I say, "I know what will cheer you up." He looked at me skeptically. "Nothing illegal. Promise. Fun, on the other hand, it will be." He rolled his eyes and plopped on the couch.
"I'm kind of tired right now. Maybe tomorrow?"
I squinted at him, "No excuses. You need this now. Come on," He reluctantly stood up. I guided him to the kitchen and sifted through the cabinets. I found gram crackers. I looked in the pantry for marshmallows and chocolate. I found marshmallows, but no chocolate. "Hmm no chocolate."
"Ask Cassidy."
"Liam, it's 3 A.M."
"She doesn't sleep well without someone in there with her."
"What do you mean?" If he didn't give me a good explanation I was sure to flip.
"I mean, when she was little she had really bad nightmares, so I used to sneak in her room at night to help her go to sleep. Now she has a problem sleeping without me being in there with her. She's even tried getting Dad or Jake to lay in there with her before. It didn't work. She says I'm the only one who can help her go to sleep." I sighed.
"Oh. I thought you meant... Never mind." He looked at me like I was insane. "I know, I know. It was stupid to think that, but you made it sound like that."
"My bad. No nothing like that. Cassidy says she isn't interested in guys right now. Although, ever since we got back she's been acting happier than normal. Maybe she met someone. Finally."
"Finally?"
"Long story. Anyways, she always has a stash of Hershey bars in her room. Just go ask her for some. Tell her I sent you." He smiled. I nodded.
I headed down the hall. I stopped in front of her soft pink door. I knocked as quietly as possible and anxiously waited for her to open the door.
Cassidy
I was laying on my bed reading a book and listening to music when I heard a knock on the door. I put the bookmark in between the pages and closed it, pressed pause on my phone and got up to open the door. I smiled seeing the green eyes that were staring into mine.
"Hey Harry." He smiled.
"Hey," he said as he ran his hand through his hair, "I didn't wake you up did I?" I shook my head.
"No. I was just reading. Listening to music. What's up?" He leaned forward, putting his weight on the doorframe by one arm.
"I'm not actually here for a casual conversation," His face was inches from mine. I gulped. What did he mean? He, he couldn't possibly be talking about... No. Not me and Harry. He's got to be talking about something else. "I've been sent on a mission from your brother." Apparently I had been holding my breath because as soon has he said that I let out a big gust. His next question surprised me. "Do you have any chocolate?" My eyebrows pushed together.
"What?"
"Chocolate. You know, that brown stuff that you can dip pretty much anything in?" I chuckled.
"Yeah, definitely not anything."
"Okay maybe not anything." He laughed. "Do you have any?"
I laughed and said, "Why?"
"Your brother was kind of being a downer, so I'm trying to make him feel better with s'mores." He smiled devilishly. I grinned.
"I don't think your trainer would like that very much." He shrugged.
"He doesn't have to know, now does he?" He winked. I tried to suppress the smile spreading on my lips, but I couldn't stop it. I looked at the ground and turned around. I reached for my stash and grabbed six mini Hershey bars.
I handed it to him and said, "You didn't see anything, got it?" He nodded.
"Thank you, Cassy." I smiled.
"You're welcome." He smiled back.
"Goodnight. Sweet dreams."
"You too. Night."
I closed the door and headed towards my bed. I fell on my back and put my hand on my face. An uncontrollable smile broke out on my face. I wonder if he felt butterflies with me too. I don't know.
I went back to my book and pressed play on my phone
