Chapter 30. Stefanie

I figured I better go check on Liam and Cassidy considering I fell asleep on the couch waiting for him to come out. Which he never did.

I walked into the kitchen and found Harry and Cassy practically making out.

"Whoa!" I shouted, "Get a room. Please!"

They jumped apart, and Harry bumped his head on the counter top.

"Ow!" he screamed.

I laughed. I even saw Cassidy giggling on the ground.

"Aww, poor baby," she cooed, "Come here,"

She stood up and rubbed the top of his head gently. He gave her an impish smile as she tried to stop laughing.

"So..." I said, "How'd it go? You know, with you and Liam?"

Cassidy smiled up at me and replied proudly, "We're good."

I smiled in return and said, "Good. I was starting to get worried. I'm assuming he slept in your room."

"He did," she said, nodding, "Did you sleep on the couch?"

"Yup," I answered, "and, in case you were wondering, it is very uncomfortable."

"Sorry," she said, smiling apologetically.

I shrugged, "It's cool. Anything for the two best friends to make up." I winked. "So what's going on with you two?"

Her smile faded as she turned to a very hesitant Harry.

"We're not exactly sure yet," he said, "We don't know if Liam would approve or not."

"Why wouldn't he?" I asked.

"Well this is his best friend we're talking about..." Cass said.

"Are you opposed to him dating me?"

"Well, no. I'm actually kind of hoping for it. You guys make each other happy," she replied.

"Exactly," I said, "Do you not think your brother will feel the same?"

There was a long period of silence. I could tell Cassidy really wanted to tell her brother, but was almost more afraid of what he would say. He is very protective. He always has been. I don't know why he'd be so averse to them dating. He wants to her to be happy, so if Harry makes her happy, why wouldn't he give them his blessing?

"I guess you're right..." Cassidy said.

"Mhm," I hummed in response.

They glanced at each other and sighed.

"I'll talk to him about it tonight..." Harry muttered.

"Talk to who about what?" Liam asked waking inside.

"Uhhhh..." Cassidy muttered.

Harry shook his head, "Just Niall. I'm not sure what's up with him. He's been gone a lot. Distant."

Well that was smooth...

"Yeah I've been noticing that lately too," Liam agreed, "What do you thinks going on?"

"We're not sure," he replied, "I haven't really seen him all weekend."

"Me neither," I chimed in.

Cass just nodded. She would be the one to stay quiet. She's terrible at lying to Liam. I mean, awful. Like, a chimpanzee trying to sing, awful.

Yeah, I know. Weird analogy, but still.

"You think we should talk to him about it?" I asked.

Liam squinted. "We could, but I think that, for now, we should see what happens. We're supposed to all hang out tonight. If he makes up an excuse not to go, we'll talk to him. Sound good?"

We all muttered 'yes's and nodded.

"Alright," he said.

"What are we doing tonight?" Cassidy asked.

"Good question," he replied. "Movies?"

"We won't all agree on one movie," Harry said. Which is true...

"Bowling?" I suggested.

"Louis is too much of a bad sport when it comes to Bowling." Liam answered.

"Really?" Cassidy asked, "Bowling is what he gets mad at?"

"You have no idea..." Harry trailed off.

Whoa, it just got awkward. I didn't know Louis could get mad.

"Anyways..." I mumbled, "What else is there to do?"

"Clubbing!" Cassidy said excitedly.

Liam cleared his throat and said, "One, you're not going into a club, and two, you're definitely not going anywhere that you will be offered alcohol."

"Aw," she whined, "Come on, Li."

"No buts, missy," he said, authoritatively.

She stuck her tongue out at him in response. Yeah... That's my best friend alright.

I giggled at the thought.

I felt someone lace their fingers in mine. I looked up to see Liam smiling at me. I smiled back.

"Awwwww..." Cassidy cooed.

I looked over at her. Her arm was on Harry's shoulder, holding her minuscule weight up. I returned the gesture she gave her brother and stuck my tongue out at her. She giggled.

"You guys are adorable," she said.

Liam chuckled and said, "I'm glad you think so because you're going to have to get over it if you don't like it."

"So does that mean you guys are...official?" she asked.

I looked back to Liam, who was still looking at me.

"That depends," he replied, "What do you think, love? Be my girlfriend?"

Did he just ask me that? Liam Payne. Liam. James. Payne. Ask me to be his girlfriend? No freaking way... This cannot be happening. I think I'm gonna faint. What in the world happened this weekend? Has it really only been one weekend? It feels like it's been a whole whopping year. Holy bejesus. He really just asked me that. Am I ready? Do I really want to be his girlfriend? Of course! Who am I kidding? I've wanted to be his girlfriend since the third grade!

'So answer him you idiot!' I told myself. 'Duh!'

"Yes," I finally replied. "I would love to be your girlfriend."

You wouldn't believe the smile came on his face. It was probably the most adorable, brightest, gorgeous, innocent, and loving, smile I've ever seen.

I'm in love with that smile
