Chapter 23. Harry

Me and Cassidy have been sitting in the movie theatre for twenty minutes, and she hasn't said more than five words.

"Cassy, what's wrong, love?" I asked, "You barely said anything on the car ride up here. Please tell me,"

"My brother is so stupid sometimes," she replied.

"Which one?"

She laughed without humor.

"All of them..." she trailed off.

"Are we talking about Liam?" I asked. She nodded. "What did the twat do this time?"

"He's just being oblivious again. Only this time, he's breaking my best friend's heart in the process," she replied solemnly.

"What happened? I thought they were doing fine last night?"

"Sssh!" someone said behind us, "You're in a movie theatre for Pete's sake! Shut up!"

I turned around and looked at them. The girl's eyes got big and her jaw dropped. I suppose she recognized me. The guy sitting next to her rolled his eyes and face palmed.

"Ho-ly crap!" she said, drawing out the syllables of 'holy'. "You're Harry Styles!" She was being rather loud.

"Ssh!" I put my finger to my mouth. "Look, I'm glad to see a fan, but I'd rather not have everyone's attention. Some fans aren't so...gentle." She smiled from ear to ear. "Yes. I am Harry Styles. I apologize for talking during the movie." I smile and turned back towards Cassidy.

She was smiling at me.

"What?" I asked.

"You couldn't be rude even if you wanted to," she said, chuckling and shaking her head.

I shrugged and replied, "Is that a bad thing?" She shook head.

"It's just rare. I like it." She smiled at me again.

How was she so beautiful? Without even trying. She could be in rags and she would be the most amazing thing on earth. Is possible she could like me? Is it possible that she's here sitting next to me, or am I dreaming? Please don't let me be dreaming.

I want her more than I have wanted anything in my life. Please let her be mine.

*Later*

After the movie ended, we decided to get something to eat. I didn't ask her about what happened between her and Liam.

We were currently in the car about to pull out of the Nando's parking lot.

"Harry..." Cassidy muttered.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Well," she replied, "I was just thinking about the fight me and my brother had. I may have been a little harsh..."

"What exactly did you say?"

"Basically that he's an idiot who can't see how Sophia made everyone he cares about feel, and that he's breaking Stefanie's heart all because of one stupid kiss."

"Wait, what? Kiss?"

"Oh. Yeah, I didn't tell you about that, did I?" She looked up at me apologetically.

"No," I said, "You didn't."

"Liam and Stefanie kissed last night. Then, after we got home, they got into an argument, but before they could settle it, Sophia called him."

I squinted at her as I contemplated my next question.

Please don't let him be that dumb.

"Tell me he didn't take the call," I said quietly, "Tell me he's not that stupid, and that he fixed it."

She shook her head slowly. My palm went straight to my forehead.

"She went into my bathroom crying, and he took the call," she confirmed, staring at the ground.

"It really upsets you seeing Stefanie sad, doesn't it?" I asked.

"Yes," she nodded, "It does, but that's not the only thing bothering me. I mean, I basically told him he was a giant dummy who has terrible judgment."

"Well, he can. Not most if the time, but he definitely can."

"I just don't know what to do. I'm so stupid..." She put her face in her hands and shook her head.

I wasn't just going to sit there and let her be miserable.

I opened the door and walked around the car. I opened her door and pulled her out.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

I smiled and said, "Helping you feel better."

I pulled her into my chest, wrapping my arms around her. She buried her face in my neck and put her arms around me.

"You didn't do anything wrong, Cassidy. All you did was tell your brother how you feel, how you've felt for a long time. It's going to be tough for him to process it, but he'll come around eventually. I know it. He isn't that dumb. Although, he hasn't been the best example of how awesome he can be lately, he'll get over this phase. This is Liam we're talking about. The smartest and most responsible guy I know. I have faith in him."

She looked up at me with tears threatening to spill over. As she blinked, one rolled down her cheek.

"You really think he'll snap out of it?" she asked.

"Of course," I soothed, "If he doesn't, you can beat me up."

She cracked a small smile as she giggled.

"Thanks, Harry."

"You're welcome."

I smiled and kissed her forehead.

We rode back to the house hand in hand, and everything seemed to be okay.

We had no clue what was waiting for us when we got back inside.
