Chapter 38. Liam

Why was she so perfect? She took my breath every time I saw her. She was the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen. When she touched me, I felt free. Like I wasn't just some famous person, I was just Liam. She made me feel like I did before One Direction happened. She kept me grounded. Of course, when we were younger, I would always flirt with her, but she would never retaliate. I suppose she was just trying not to let Cassidy see that she liked me.

I was the luckiest man on earth to be holding her right now. To watch her sleep and kiss her. To feel her skin. She could be with anyone right now, but she wants to be with me. That made me feel special. It gave me the same feeling I got when I was done with a concert, only, it didn't last an hour or two. It lasted for as long as she was with me.

She gave me butterflies and crazy electric tingles whenever she touched me. Anywhere our skin met the was surge of energy. Not the kind of energy that shocks you or hurts you, but the kind that keeps you awake. The kind that keeps you alive and well.

She stirred. Turning from her right side to her left, hiding her face in my chest. She took a deep breath. I saw her eyelashes flutter, like she might've woken up. I put my hand to her face and stroked it softly.

"Liam?" she muttered.

I smiled and hid my face in her hair and replied, "I'm right here, babe."

She lifted her face to me sleepily. "Why are you still awake?"

"Because, as creepy as it sounds, I like watching you sleep," I answered with smile.

She laughed quietly, "It's not creepy to me. It's sweet. If you want," she yawned, "I could stay up with you."

She curled up, practically on top of me, and grabbed my hand, entwining our fingers.

"That's alright, love," I replied, "Go to sleep. It's been a long day."

She nodded. She mumbled something I couldn't understand.

"What's that, sweetheart?" I asked. She didn't answer me. I guess she went back to sleep.

"Goodnight, Steffy," I said, planting kisses on her face.

With one last peck in the lips, she smiled and said, "Goodnight, Li."

Not too long after, I must've fallen asleep because I dreamed of her telling me she loved me. Of course I said it back, but it was only a dream. She wouldn't really know I felt that strongly about her until the right time. It had been three months so I suppose it couldn't be any better than now, but I wanted it to be perfect.

Nothing less for my perfect girl.
