Chapter 22. Liam
Me and Sophia were sitting on the couch. I had my around her shoulders. I still haven't told her about what happened last night, and she'd been here at least three hours.
"Babe, what's wrong? You're being really quiet," she asked.
"Hmm? Oh nothing..." I muttered.
"Oh okay," she replied.
Is that really all it took? Weird.
"So what'd you do yesterday?"
I froze.
"Uh, I-I just, umm, hung out. With the guys. W-why?" I sputtered.
"Just wondering. What are we doing tonight?" she asked, tapping my nose.
"Mmm... What do you want to do?"
"Something romantic, perhaps?" she looked up at me with her eyebrows raised and a playful grin.
I tried my best not to stutter as I said, "Umm, actually. I was uh hoping to just stay in tonight."
She frowned. "Why? You stayed in last night," she replied.
"Yeah but I'm still recovering from tour. I haven't been able to sleep the past few nights."
"Oh. I guess that's understandable..." she trailed off sounding disappointed.
That was a close one. How was I supposed to tell her?
'Oh hey by the way. I totally made out with my little sisters best friend, and all I can think about is doing it again every time I see her. Even though I'm laying here with you, I'm wishing it was her. So yeah, that's what I did last night.'
I had a feeling that wouldn't go over so well.
"We need to talk," Cassidy came in abruptly, "Now."
"Umm, okay," I said, confused.
I stood up and followed her into the kitchen. She turned around. She looked pissed off.
"So you weren't planning on telling me about breaking my best friend's heart were you?" she asked.
My jaw dropped. "W-what?!" I asked, shocked.
"You know exactly what I'm talking about, Liam!" she yelled.
"I didn't know what I was doing! I just did it, okay? I'm sorry. I like her. I really do like her, but it's just not the right time," I replied.
"You idiot!" she screamed, "Break up with her for God's sake! Damn it! I saw how you looked at Stefanie last night. I saw how much it hurt her too. You can't say you don't regret it... Can you?"
"Answering the call? Yes. Kissing her and feeling the way I do? No."
"Then break up with Sophia. She's a bitch to me. She doesn't care about you. I haven't seen her do one thing that shows she appreciates you. She gave you a fucking gift card to Whataburger for your birthday last year."
"So? Maybe I like Whataburger!" I yelled defensively.
"Liam! We live in England! There are no Whataburgers in England! You weren't even going on tour in the next few weeks. Not even months! And it wasn't even five dollars! Are you seriously defending her right now?!"
I didn't know what to say. Was I really not seeing the bad in mine and Sophia's relationship? Could she really be as bad as Cassidy is saying?
"That's not even the worst part. The worst part is that you're making an eighteen year girl cry over upstairs, and all you're doing about it is holding the girl who's making your sister, your family, and your best friends miserable. You're fine when you're not with her, but when you are you're a completely different person. Why do you think none of want to be around you when she's here? It's not all her fault. It's mainly because she has got you so manipulated and tied around her little finger so lightly, that not even you, the smartest, most responsible person I know, realizes how she makes everyone you love feel. I've pretended for too long that this doesn't bother me. It does, Liam. I feel like I'm losing my brother. And don't you dare blame it on the band. Because you were the same person, you were still my Liam before you started seeing her. I'm done with it Liam. Be mad at me if you want, but I'm not taking a single word back. Just know, that no matter what she tells you, I'm always gonna be here. Because I'm your sister. I'm your best friend. She is not."
She turned away and walked back up the stairs as if nothing happened.
When did she grow up? When did she start being the wiser sibling? Because I definitely felt like a dumb ass right now.
