Chapter 17. Liam

Something about her shaking her head no at me earlier snapped my heart in two. I really liked her. This. Us. We couldn't happen though. I was with Sophia. She was my baby girl's best friend. That'd never work would it? I sure wanted it to.

"Whatcha thinking about?" Stefanie interrupted my thoughts.

"Just stuff." I said quickly. She nodded. Damn I wanted to kiss her again.

We hit a red light and I looked over to her. She was looking at me as well. My eyes traveled over her once again. They landed on her beautiful, full, soft pink lips. Without thinking, my hand reached up and brushed my thumb across her lips. My fingers trailed up her check, earning a blush in return.

"Stef..." I started.

"The light's green," she replied before I could get anything out. Her face turned towards the window. I sighed and pressed on the gas.

If she wasn't going to talk to me then boy was I screwed.

Harry

"I think my plan might actually be working, Haz." Cassidy whispered to me. She pointed towards Liam.

I looked up. He was looking at Stefanie longingly. His arm stretched out and his thumb grazed her mouth. I smiled to myself. I knew it.

I wish I could do that with Cassy. I would never have that much confidence.

He sighed just then. Her eyes were turned to the window now. His eyes stayed locked on the road for the rest of the night.

We arrived at Kendall's house. As I turned to tell her goodnight I realized she had been staring at me.

"Umm, it was nice to meet you." I said politely. She smiled widely.

"Thank you. It was nice to meet you too. Oh you too Liam. Thanks for the ride." she replied.

"Oh no problem," he smiled back to her. Stefanie scoffed. What was wrong with these two?

As soon as Kendall closed the door Liam spoke to the three of us left, "Are you guys hungry?"

We all shrugged. He sighed.

"I guess it is getting late. We'll just go home then,"

"Don't forget that Stef is spending the night with me tonight," Cassidy said to Liam, "Her parents aren't going to be home for whole month, so we have to stop by her house, and then we can go home."

The look on his face was utterly conflicted. I could see excitement, but I could also see dread and worry. He sighed for what seems like the tenth time tonight.

We rode the rest of the way in silence. I laid my face on Cassidy's back on it's side. I could feel her breath in and out. I could stay here forever.

"Harry?" she said quietly.

"Hmm..." I hummed against her.

"You're not asleep are you?" I shook my head. "Well we're home, and Liam and Stef are already inside."

Really? We already went to Stefanie's house and were home now?

I lifted my head to say, "What?" She nodded and chuckled.

"We're home, Hazzah," she replied gently.

"Oh wow. I didn't think I fell asleep," I said, a little surprised. She laughed again.

"Come on, silly."

She opened the door and jumped out. I followed her without hesitation. We walked up the steps, and I stopped her in front of the door. I laced my fingers with hers and pulled her into me.

"Will you, Cassidy Renee Payne Brown, go out with me again tomorrow?" I asked her, our faces just inches apart.

She smiled brightly saying, "Of course I will Harry Edward Styles," she answered as she giggled.

I leaned in to kiss her, but before I could she turned her head, making my lips land on her cheek instead if it's intended destination. I grumbled. She giggled again.

"Not on the first date, Hazzah," she teasingly said, "I wouldn't want you to get the wrong idea about me." She winked.

"Who cares?" I said only slightly aggravated now.

"It's just not how I want to do things. My last relationship started too fast. No matter how much I want to kiss you, the first date is too fast." She then kissed my cheek and turned inside the house, leaving me wanting more. I'd better get used to it. I had a feeling she was going to do that a lot in the next few months.
