Chapter 8. Cassidy

"Alright," Stef said, "Almost done. Just hold this," I obeyed, "and I'll curl this. There!" She yelled, making me jump slightly.

I looked in the mirror to find a completely different person. Was this really me? Hair curled and braided to perfection? My eyes, a strange teal blue green color, stood out like lights. The blue eye shadow, thick liner, and volume mascara made them stand out like bright beacons. My rosy cheeks complimented my slightly pink and shiny lips. My light brown and blonde hair in perfect little ringlets all the way below my chest and mid back, French fishtailed on top and in the back. I was stunned.

"You look gorgeous, Cass. You always do." Stef cooed, interrupting my marveling. I smiled extravagantly at her. A breathtaking smile that I never would've recognized as my own had is not felt it upon my own face.

I sighed saying, "You're a miracle worker, Stefanie. How did you make me look so amazing?"

She shrugged. "I'm going into cosmetology. Gotta be good to get into a good business." She beamed.

I was utterly baffled at how unrecognizable she had made me. I hoped Harry would think I looked pretty.

"Now for the dress," she interrupted my thoughts again.

A strapless blue silk and satin dress. Soft ruffles from my waist to my knees. A sweetheart bust with white lace on it. And finally, a pair of strappy blue heels to match.

I had diamond earrings that hung down in three studs, and a necklace to match with two diamonds on each side of the bigger pendant. Gifts from my Grandmother. They were hers when she was my age. She didn't wear jewelry much so she gave them to me. She must've only wore them once or twice because they looked brand new.

"There," she bragged once more, "Now you're absolutely and %100 perfect. Cassidy Renee Payne Brown. You are amazing and completely stunning. Harry isn't gonna know what to do when he sees you, love." I shrugged.

"He doesn't have to do anything like I do. I have to do makeup and jewelry and the pretty dress. He puts on a suit and combs his hair and looks perfect. Even when isn't in a suit with messy hair. He still perfect. He always is." I pondered.

"He's still gonna be speechless when he sees you, gorgeous." We smiled at each other. She had done her own hair and makeup and still looked ten times prettier than I did. As per usual.

"You look ten times as gorgeous as I do, Steffie." She smiled.

"Yeah I guess that's why I don't have a date?" I shoved her.

"It's only because we don't talk to anybody at school and always keep to ourselves. Sheldon could've taken you." I winked as she gagged.

"Pass," she said exaggerating her vomiting. I laughed.

That's when the idea came to my mind.

"Hey, I'm gonna go use the bathroom before we go."

I walked passed her as I heard her say, "Do not ruin my masterpiece!"

I turn around and say, "Yes m'am." I salute her and go into the bathroom.

I pull out my phone and go through contacts. I find Liam's and push his number. I put the phone to my ear and wait for his answer.

"Hello?" he answers.

"Hey Bubba."

"Hey gorgeous. Getting ready?"

"Yes. Actually we just got through, but..."

"What is it?"

"I wanted to ask you something. It might sound a little weird."

"Uh oh. Well whatever it is I'm sure I've seen weirder with the guys I hang out with." He laughed. I laughed with him.

"Well, you see earlier, I asked Harry to go to the prom with me. And me and Stef were just talking and she doesn't have a date. So I was hoping you could do me a huuuuuuge favor." I smiled a bit.

"And that would be...?" He trailed off.

"Could you please, pretty, pretty please, with a cherry on top, please, please! Be her date?" I waited anxiously.

"Of course I will!" he said enthusiastically. "Why not? For my baby girl's best girlfriend? Any day."

"You're the best big brother in the entire world!"

"I know." He chuckled.

"So I'll see you guys in a bit?"

"Yeah we'll pick you up in about twenty minutes, Cassy-Bear."

"Okay. Thanks! Love you! Bye!"

"Love you too! Bye!"

I hung up the phone and walked outside. I was pleased with myself. Although I would get chewed out later, it was so going to be worth it to see her little eyes gleaming when she sees him on the other side of the door. She's my best friend. And if it means breaking my brother and Sophia up to get those two together, then I was willing. They both deserved better than what they had. They deserved each other.
