Chapter 33. Cassidy

I dressed quickly and met everyone in the kitchen. They all looked up at me with the expression of a child that had just been caught doing something terribly wrong.

"What's going on?" I asked, extremely skeptically.

"Nothing," Liam covered up.

I glance behind him and saw Zayn on the phone with someone.

"Who's he talking to?" I asked. Louis stepped forward.

"He's just ordering his food," he replied. I squinted, not believing it. "Do you want me to tell him what you want?"

"I already ordered for her," Stef answered. Louis gave her a look. "Oh but if you want something other than a grilled chicken salad that's cool." She smiled falsely.

I looked to Harry, who wouldn't look me in the eyes. Him and Niall were terrible liars. As I looked at him, he looked every but me.

"Haz," I said. He hummed, but he still wouldn't look at me, "What's going on? I mean, really going on."

He cleared his throat and said, "Well, you see, Niall. He was really hungry and we're all getting kind of grumpy. We thought it might be because we're all hungr-"

"I don't believe you," I looked around at everyone. They were slowly backing into the living room. "Oh, no no, not so fast, people. Someone needs to explain to me what going on."

Zayn hung up the phone and quickly walked to Liam and whispered something in his ear. Liam's face lit up. What the hell is going on?

Liam cleared his throat and began, "Cassidy. I know how much you love singing. I overheard you in the shower, and I was just thinking that you have too much talent to pass up. Zayn wasn't on the phone with the restaurant. He was on the phone with Simon. We were trying to get him to come down and listen to you sing." I felt a lump form in my throat. I started to shake my head. "Please, Cass. I promise it will be fine. He just wants to hear you sing. That's all. That doesn't mean anything is gong to become of it. I just need you to know how much of an amazing singer you are. All of us think so." They all nodded in agreement. "Just think about it?"

I was speechless. I couldn't say anything, much less could I agree.

He walked up to me and reassuringly put his hands on my arms.

"I know you can do this," he said quietly, "I have faith in you. Stef has faith in you. We all have faith in you."

I took a deep breath and faced the ground.

Of course I wanted to do this. I can't imagine the thrill I would get from performing for millions of people. The feeling of adrenaline pumping through my veins, it excited me, but it made me sick just as easily.

I'd always wanted to sing. I look up to Liam, not just because of what he's done for me, but because of what he's done for himself and the other boys. They all work so hard and I'm just as proud as their own families. They're amazing and so huge. If I decide to do this and actually make it, I can only hope to be half as famous as them.

I nodded and everyone cheered behind my big brother. I smiled impishly.

"Yes!" he said, "I promise you won't regret this, Cassy-bear."

I nodded again. "I know. I'm just...scared." He hugged me.

"You're going to be amazing as always."

"Group hug!" Louis and Niall yelled at the same time.

I giggled and said, "No! No no!"

Liam held me in place as the others quickly filled in around me.

They better be careful. I'm already about to throw up and I haven't even eaten anything yet...
