Chapter Two

It took a fair few moments for Carol, Jason and myself to calm down my dad. I started to get frustrated about how he was reacting and I started little earth tremors, that seemed to quiet down my dad but now it was time to calm me down. Although it didn't take too much, Jason placed his hand on my waist I could feel my migraine and stress start to float away with his gentle touch.

Jason did try to go in for a little kiss but my father's veins on his head looked like they were about to burst so we decided it was best not to show any PDA, instead he just held my hand.

"Well, I guess I'll see you at later at school" Jason said as he stood at my front door.

"Yeah that's if we ever make it" He smiled. Still holding my hand he gave it one last gentle squeeze and left me to get ready for the day. I was said I didn't get my goodbye kiss but with my dad watching like a hawk only in the next room, it was the most we could do.

Carol made us all breakfast and we all sat down enjoying our eggs, bacon and toast. I saw John reach for another rash of bacon that was basically at the other end of the table, he almost reached it when his face tightened up, his hand went straight to his ribs and I could hear him breathe in through his teeth in pain.

All our heads shot towards him to make sure he was okay. "Guys I'm fine, someone just hand me another rash of bacon" He asked pointing towards the plate. Lucas grabbed the plate quickly and placed it in front of John. "Here you go bro" John smiled slightly "Thanks" And begun stuffing his face with the crunchy bacon.

After the fight with Vincent, John was hurt pretty badly and needed to be rushed to the pack doctors which is located in the basement of the pack house. We didn't know how badly he was hurt until the next day. The reason John's wounds weren't healing as fast was because somehow when he was fighting with Vincent his connection to his wolf had been weakened and all his werewolf abilities had been weakened with it. He couldn't heal as fast, talking to his wolf was like listening to static radio, his fire abilities were not what they use to be and there was also the possibility of not being able to find his mate if they are human. The doctor's said it was rare but it had happened before and that sometimes with time the connection can heal itself and become strong again, but sometimes it doesn't.

John doesn't like to talk about it so we try not to bring it up but he isn't the same anymore, the happy, pranking, soccer loving guy I use to know has hidden himself and now he is more reserved, wears more frowns than smiles and has asked his soccer coach if he could be second string and only call on him if they need him. We all were worried for him but it's hard to talk to someone that doesn't want to be talked to.

"Shoot! I'm late for practice, John are you coming this time?" Lucas yelled as he rushed around the house to find his things.

"Nah, I think I'll miss this one"

"You've missed the last 4 practises, come on it might be good for you"

"I said I don't want to go" John said angrily. He abruptly got up and left for his room. We all sat there in silence for a few moments before Lucas broke the tension.

"I cannot stand his attitude much longer, he needs to move on" Carol and dad looked shocked at what Lucas had just said and I can't say my face would look much different.

"Lucas Harold Vernear!" I stifled a laugh at finally finding out Lucas's middle name, no wonder he didn't want me to know, but this was no time for laughing.

"I am appalled, your brother is going through something none of can understand. How can you be so insensitive?"

"Look mum I can't handle this all right now, I'll try being more sensitive after practise" And he rushed out the door to his and John's car.
