Chapter 24

"I remember my father telling me this story like it was yesterday" Jason's father said.

"My father sat me down and begun telling me the story of my Aunt Abigail's death. The whole story" He took a swig of his drink never showing any pain of the burning taste of the scotch that ran down his throat.

That day out in the forest started like you know—

**Flash back to that day** (Richards POV aka Jason's Grandfather)

Running the perimeter of my territory was exactly what I needed, my thoughts had been so congested with plans on how I might "legally" attack the vampire clan on the north side of my territory that I needed to take a break. It had been suggested many times by my fellow pack members to not worry about the rules, to just attack but I knew the consequences of breaking a treaty such as this and now I am consumed with only ideas and schemes on how I can get around the wretched rules.

But in the midst of my run I had let my mind be clear and suddenly I felt lighter, like a weight had been lifted off me and I all I can think about was running.

After a good hour of running I slowed down to a jog and noticed that I was just off the northern border of my territory, I took in one long breath trying to soothe my burning lungs but knowing if I were any closer I could risk tainting my nostrils with the foul stench of the rotting scum that squatted no more than mile up ahead.

I started to turn back when my eyes caught a house in the distance, on my side of my northern territory. To my knowledge I had not given anyone permission to build a house out here in my forest and yet here it was with a fresh coat of paint.

As I stalked closer to get a better view of its occupants I caught the floral scent of my sister Abigail but it didn't smell exactly the way I knew it to be it was mixed with a strange scent as well. Last I had known she was visiting her friend from another pack but her scent was so strong here that it was nearly overwhelming, so I knew what I had been told had to be a lie. I reached the front window of the small house and peered in, the sight I saw was one I will never forget. My baby sister, my Abigail kneeling on the ground as a vampire leech bit into her neck, before my brain could fully process what I was seeing my wolf had already taken over my body, in one swift move I had broken through the window and grabbed the vampire by his neck whilst pushing Abigail out of the way.

Time seemed to slow down and every sense had become amplified. I heard the teeth of the vampire rip through her flesh as I pulled them apart, I smelt the overpowering smell of her blood flow freely from her neck, I heard the loud thud as she hit the floor, I saw her bright emerald eyes look at me in fear, I tasted the salty tear that had escaped from my eye hit my lips and last thing I heard from her lips was gurgled attempts at saying my name.

I threw the vampire hard against the wall knocking him out cold and quickly rushed to Abigail sobbing as I cradled her head in my arms attempting to stop the bleeding from her neck.

"Abby! Stay with me! Please Abby, don't be gone" I repeated over and over again until I couldn't form the words anymore.

I placed a soft kiss on her forehead as I gently laid her head back down on the ground. The vampire had just started to rouse when I clenched my fist around his neck.

"Explain yourself!" I growled out. He coughed and squirmed as he tried to release himself from my grip.

"Where's Abby? Where's my Abigail" He screamed out. I banged his head against the wall at the audacity of his claim.

"She is not yours you filthy leech! She was my sister and you killed her!" I said as I forcibly kneeled him on the ground showing him what he had done.

"No! Abby!" He tried crawling over to her but I tightly held onto his hair and pulled him back.

"You don't get to touch her! You should of never have touched her!" He cried and screamed as he kept trying to get close to her. I yanked him up to his feet and pushed him back against the wall. "What made you think you would ever have the right to touch her?!"

He hiccupped as he tried speak. "Becau-, because she, she was my mate" I clenched my jaw in fury and threw the most powerful punch I could muster. His body broke through the floorboards and grabbed him by the shirt pulling close to me again.

"Don't lie to me!"

"I'm not, she was my mate and I was hers. We loved each other" With his non-puffy eye he looked around the house. "This was our home"

"If you loved her so much why were you sucking the life from her?!"

He coughed up some blood as he tried to speak "I had gotten into a pretty bad fight, her blood it heals me" He said in rough voice.

With his last words I felt my humanity break and I let my wolf take over, I felt my teeth elongate and my mouth started to morph and in one quick second my mouth clamped over the entirety of his neck and one mighty bite his head was disconnected from his body.

**Back to the present day**

At the end of the story Cain was on his third glass of scotch.

"Dad I don't understand, how has that got anything to do with what's going on right now?" Jason asked confused.

"After your grandfather killed the vampire he looked through the house to find some sort of reason as to why his sister was there. In the house he found a small room" Cain paused a little, preparing himself for what he was about to say.

"What was in the room dad?" Jason asked urgently.

"It was a nursery room"
