Neighbors | Maichard

Intro

Maine took a deep breath and pushed the curtains aside to let the morning sunlight enter her room. She then opened the windows and immediately felt the pleasant warmth against her skin.

"Today will be your day." Maine whispered before she smiled widely. The young girl then heard knocks on her door, she turned her head and asked who it is.

"It's Gabbi, open the door please!"

Maine hastily made her way towards and opened it. Standing on the other side is her cousin carrying a tray full of sandwiches.

"Para san 'yan?"

"God I'm hungry na kasi. Kung di pa kita pupuntahan, di ka lalabas dito." Gabbi answered. Maine quickly stepped aside and let her in.

"Aba, wala pang 9:00 am mukha ka na namang diyosa." she commented and Gabbi smiled.

"Wag ka nga, I woke up like this." the other girl answered before she whipped her hair around. Maine smiled and quickly grabbed one chese sandwich.

"Talaga lang ah? Gutom lang yan. Wait, bakit parang ang dami mong ginawa eh wala naman sina Mommy at Tita?" she asked. Gabbi grinned and placed the sandwich she was eating right on her lap.

"Look out of the window." she said and pointed at the one on her right.

"Why?" Maine asked.

"Just do it." Gabbi insisted. She took a deep breath and did what her cousin asked her to do. Maine's mouth fell agape after her eyes laid on the subject. At first she thought Gabbi was pertaining to the majestic blue sky above them or a unique bird. Instead, Maine saw something else. Her eyes shifted below and steadied on the perfectly chiseled back of a mystery shirtless guy mowing the lawn of her neighbor.

The sunlight perfectly highlighted all the important parts of his body and the shadows it made only added more appeal to his already mouthwatering hotness. Maine quickly became intrigued, his face is still hidden but she's already hooked.

Maine then noticed he's wearing earphones and started wondering what kind of music he may be into. He then suddenly turned around and Maine froze in her position. His face is angelic with just the right amount of softness. His eyes, she can stare at them for hours. His porcelain skin that is even whiter than hers along with his naturally red lips that can kiss her all night long. He's a masterpiece and Maine's always been a fan of art.

"Do you know him?" Gabbi asked.

"Nope, ngayon ko lang siya nakita. Maybe anak ni Doktora." Maine answered, referring to the owner of the lawn that the guy's mowing.

Suddenly, he looked up and she quickly ducked down. Maine's heart dropped and she looked at Gabbi.

"What happened?" her cousin asked. Suddenly, they started hearing the doorbell button from downstairs. Maine took a peek and saw that the guy is gone.

"Shit." she said. Gabbi then disappeared to see who their unexpected visitor is. One minute later, she returned and asked her to come down.

"Bakit?" she asked.

"He wants to talk to you." Gabbi replied with a serious expression on her face. Maine took a deep breath and went downstairs. She forced an awkward smile after spotting him. The mysterious model-esque shirtless guy is standing right outside their door with his thick arms over his chest, displaying his huge biceps that can surely make anyone fall for him.

"Hi." he said. His manly voice almost turned her knees into jelly. She looked straight to his eyes and noticed that they are as brown as chocolate. The guy looks like someone who just escaped a magazine or a poster. He's perfect, a solid ten.

"Hi?" she answered awkwardly.

"My name is Richard ... Richard Reyes Faulkerson Jr. and I'm your new neighbor." he said and his serious face turned to a smiling one. Maine quickly smiled back; he's hotter than the morning.

"Maine Mendoza ... nice to meet you."

"Gabbi Garcia ... pinsan niya." her cousin then said and so he displayed his lopsided smile. Butterflies filled her stomach , she's smitten.

"Nga pala ... why are you looking at me kanina?" he suddenly asked Maine and she was brought back to reality right away. The serious look on his face made her nervous.

"Huh? ikaw? Nope, I wasn't looking at you." she lied.

"Oh come on, I saw you several times dun sa reflection ng glass kanina. That's also the reason why I went here, to ask you about it. Kung gusto mong ma-admire yung view edi dapat sumigaw ka na lang para nakaharap ako agad." he answered with a proud look on his face. Maine balled her fists, she's already mad at him.

"Kapal mo ah, ano ka? Kabilang ka ba sa seven wonders of the world para i-admire?" she asked.

"Nope, but I'm the eight." he whispered and winked at her. Maine froze in her spot, his charm disabled her ability to move and react right away.

"Yabang mo!" she suddenly yelled and he turned. Maine's heart skipped a beat after he smiled. Gabbi then closed the door right away and asked if she's alright.

"Kasalanan mo 'to eh." Maine replied.

"What? Why?"

"Pinatingin mo pa yan tuloy. Ikaw ..."

"Sus, kinilig ka nga eh." Gabbi replied and then started walking away.

"Oo naman .... teka, hoy!"
