IX. - Unexpected -

Maine did not even give Richard a single chance to explain his side. She ended the call right away and stood up from the high chair she was sitting on. She found something written under the plate of Richard's cake and it reminded her of the same message she read several hours earlier. That one amateur mistake gave away the identity of the mysterious fuck boy that texted her.

Send nudes ...

Maine doesn't know what has gotten into him but what he did made her realize one thing, he's a proper idiot. Full of hatred and pride, she walked out into the night and quickly made her way to his doorsteps. She took a deep breath and knocked on his door furiously until he opened it for her.

"What the ... sisirain mo ba yung pinto?" he asked but she ignored him.

"Kanino mo nakuha yung number ko hah?" her voice thundered and disturbed the silence of the night. Richard opened his mouth but before a single word escaped from it, she started speaking again.

"Akala mo siguro di ko mapapansin no? And wow, napaka-fuck boy mo talaga. Send nudes agad? Di mo man lang kinilala? Kay Gabbi mo nakuha number ko no?" she asked. This time, Richard had the chance to talk. And the words he said only infuriated her even more.

"Dapat nga pasalamat ka pa na may nag-text eh. For all I know, wala ka mang text or call mate." He muttered and her eyes widened.

"Ay ang kapal. For your information, may ka-text ako."

"Sino? TM Ka-Tropa? Balance Inquiry? Globe?" he asked her. The smug look on Richard's afce caused a weird reaction on Maine. Half of her felt weak at the sight of his attractiveness while half reached her temper's boiling point.

"Ugh, NO." she grunted and rolled her eyes at him.

"Oh come on Maine. If you want, I'll send you my nudes first." He said, grinning at her naughtily. He bit his lower lip and that alone raised the temperature even if they were standing outside the house. He looked irresistible; his charm's still too strong to be battled by her feisty personality.

"Talaga? ... ay wait ... nope, ayoko. Keep your nudes to yourself. Manyak ka talaga. Ganiyan nab a lahat ng boys ngayon?" she asked. Richard tried to say something but her voice drowned his and she went on to rant about the attitude of millennial guys she had the chance to spend some time with. She criticized everything. From the way they dressed to the way they ate food and treated girls.

Will you please shut up?

She heard him say. But Maine already reached her boiling point. She had to let all the steam out and he will not have choice other than wait for it to be all over.

Shut up, please .... You're so annoying ...

His voice faded instantly into the night. For some reason, Maine felt stronger. His silence translated as weakness and she realized he will never try to stop or touch her. She hates his attitude but she has a soft spot for his physical attributes.

"Hindi porket model ka eh magugustuhan ka nang lahat."

"Shut up or I will kiss you." He warned. Maine, still unfazed by this, mocked his expression and rolled her eyes away.

"As if naman gagawin mo .... And as if naman papayag ako." She thought to herself. Without saying a single word, he cupped her chin and tipped her face towards his. And before Maine could even react, Richard leaned in and kissed her hard on the mouth. The world went into slow motion after their lips met for the first time.
