"What are we gonna do next?" Richard asked Maine as soon as he pulled away from her lips. She gave him a smile and did a thinking pose that he found sexy.

"Should we tell them na tayo na?" she asked back. Richard reached for Maine's hand and planted a kiss on it.

"It's up to you, babe."

"Mamaya na lang kaya? Bago tayo pumunta sa fireworks show?"

"Sure." Richard replied before smiling at her. Maine pulled him in for a hug before they both left the bed. After setting some plans for the rest of the day, she finally left his room. Richard started smiling to himself. He rested his head against the wall and closed his eyes. A wave of emotions flowed right through him. She finally said yes to him. The sadness and guilt he felt earlier have both subsided to a manageable level. Richard opened his eyes again and looked up at the ceiling.

"Thank you, God, for bringing her to me."

Maine went home with a smile on her face. She closed the front door behind her and then sat on the couch. Butterflies continued to dance in her stomach. Her heart was still fluttering and a feeling of lightness enveloped her. For the first time in a while, she felt completely happy.

She totally fell for him. Maine was able to look past his cocky bravado and see the kindhearted guy underneath. He grew on her and before she even realized it, Maine started liking the things she used to hate about him. She finally understood why Richard acts the way he does, she finally unlocked every tiny piece that makes up his personality, she saw his past and that only made her want to protect him from the rest of the world. Maine waited a long time for a guy like Richard to come to her life, he made her feel things she never felt before, and that got her excited for what their future will be.

"Bakit ang saya mo ata?" Maine's mom asked her.

"Po?" she asked back.

"Sabi ko ... bakit ang saya mo ata?" Mrs. Mendoza replied before sitting next to her. Maine smiled and gave her mom a hug.

"May sasabihin po ako sa inyo."

"Ano yun?"

"Kami na po ni Richard."

Mrs. Mendoza's mouth fell open. She pulled away and stared at her with wide eyes for a moment, letting the news sink in.

"Weh? Di nga?" she asked and Maine laughed.

"Opo, sinagot ko na siya."

"Talaga? Oh my God!"

It was then Maine's turn to be hugged. After a few seconds, they pulled away from each other. Mrs. Mendoza held both of her daughter's hands and squeezed them tightly.

"I'm really happy for you. Maine?"

"Po?"

"Minimum of tatlong apo ah? Dalawang girl at isang boy, okay?" she asked. Maine instantly blushed and removed her hands from her mother's hold.

"Ay grabe siya, first day pa lang naming ngayon. Hindi pwedeng mag-jowa muna nang at least two years bago magpakasal at mag-anak?"

"Joke lang, ikaw naman."

"I know." Maine said before smiling at her once again.

"Pero seryoso ako ah? Minimum of 3, maximum of 10 para one big happy family."

"Mommy!"

--

One hour after, Richard decided to call his Mom to deliver the good news. Her phone rang a couple of times before she was able to answer it.
