LXIII. - Got Your Back -

"What? OH MY GOD!!! Congrats, Anak!" Mrs. Mendoza yelled after Maine told her she got an internship to Paris. She then got pulled into a tight hug by her mother. After a few seconds, they pulled away from each other and looked at the screen of her laptop. Maine knew she should feel happy about the internship but she couldn't. Maine realized that being away from her loved ones would be really hard, and just the thought of it was already scaring the crap out of her.

"This is good. I'm very proud of you, Maine." She heard her mom say.

"Thanks, Mommy. But I don't think pupunta ako."

"But why? Sayang naman ang opportunity."

"Mommy, I just got you back di ba? And I'm perfectly happy with the life I have here. Pwede naman akong maging intern ni Mr. Carbungco dito. No need to go to Paris, really." Maine replied right away.

"Eh sayang naman. Sigurado kang yun ang dahilan ah? Baka mamaya takot ka lang iwan si Richard dito."

"Akshelly ..."

"Meng ..."

"Joke lang. Mommy naman, di na mabiro."

Richard just finished eating breakfast when he received a call from Maine. He closed the door to his room and sat on the edge of his bed before he answered her call.

"Hello? Babe?" he asked.

"Good morning, love." Maine's voice was enough to cause butterflies in his stomach to fly around wildly.

"Good morning, babe. How are you?"

Richard then stood up from his bed and opened the window, only to see Maine in her room smiling at him. He smiled back and placed his arm on the window frame.

"I'm good. I need your help though."

"With what? Maliligo ka na ba? Sabay na tayo." Richard said before flashing his naughty grin at her.

"Tsaka na yung harot, okay? We need to go ASAP."

"Kanino ba tayo pupunta?"

"Kay Mr. Carbungco."

"Why?"

"Basta. Meet me outside in half an hour. Love you, babe." Maine told him before ending the call.

Half an hour later, Richard stepped out of the house and saw Maine waiting for him in front of her car. She threw the key at him and he caught it quickly.

"Drive for me?"

"Sure," Richard said. And a few minutes later, they already started driving away.

"So ... now are you gonna tell me what's going on?" he asked after a few minutes of silence.

"I got an internship offer ... in Paris," Maine replied and Richard felt his heart jump a beat. His eyes widened and he gripped the stirring wheel harder to remain in control of the car.

"PARIS??? What the fuck that's great! You should take it, Babe! Your dreams are finally coming true!" Richard said happily. He then glanced at her face expecting to see a hopeful and excited reaction but instead, he was greeted with an anxious and uncertain expression.

"Hey, what's wrong? Dapat nga masaya ka di ba?" Richard questioned her.

"I know ... pero ewan. Parang I'm way past the point na nae-excite pa ako sa ganyan. I mean, I'm grateful don't get me wrong pero I'm perfectly happy here and pwede ko namang matutunan dito yung matututunan ko sa Paris." She answered. Richard didn't speak for one whole minute for he was instantly reminded of the time he got an offer in New York and Italy. He decided to cancel both because he was already happy with everything that was going on in his life.

"Okay ... um, how about this? Spend the rest of the ride thinking about it then decide on what you really want and I will support you whatever that is. Kung pupunta ka, game ... kung hindi naman, okay lang din. I just want you to REALLY think about it. Okay?" he asked and Maine nodded. Richard smiled and placed his eyes back on the road.

"Thank you Maine and Richard for being here kahit na holidays pa." Maine heard Mr. Carbungco say as soon as they walked into his office.

"Okay lang po yun." She responded. Maine then sat next to Richard on the couch and they waited for Mr. Carbungco to sit on the chair in front of them. And as soon as he did, Maine took a deep breath and announced her answer.

"I won't be going." She said and the two guys looked at her immediately.

"Are you sure?" RJ asked.

"Why?" Mr. Carbungco questioned her

"Um, no offense po ... I'm very thankful for everything you did para matulungan po ako but I don't think I'm ready for that kind of opportunity ... I mean I'm not skilled enough to go to an international adventure and I am not ready to leave my loved ones here. At sa tingin ko naman po matututunan ko naman po dito yung mga lessons and skills na pwede kong matutunan dun"

"Are you sure?" RJ asked her again.

"Yes. Mr. Carbungco thank you po but I don't think I'm ready for it."

Maine's heart was drumming hard against her chest the whole time she was explaining herself. For a second she thought Mr. Carbungco would be mad at her, but after he smiled, Maine was able to breathe a sigh of relief.

"I admire you Maine, for being honest. And yes, you're right ... I really think hindi mo naman kailangan yung internship sa Paris. Pero sayang talaga yung opportunity ah?"

"I know ... pero I'm perfectly happy naman po dito." Maine uttered and she reached for Richard's hand. He squeezed hers tightly and they exchanged smiles.

"Good ... at least it's settled then, you're staying."

"Babe, I'm proud of you ... SOOOOO proud of you." Richard told Maine a couple of minutes after they left Mr. Carbungco's office.

"Thanks, love." Maine replied before pinching his right cheek.

"I think I made the right decision." She then said. Richard glanced at her and smiled.

"If you're happy then I think you did."

"Love, ang cute mo ngayon." Maine told him and Richard blushed a bit.

"Wag mo nga akong pakiligin." He replied and she chuckled.

"I have an idea."

"What is it?"

Maine placed a hand on his knee and let it skitter all the way up to his upper thigh. Richard gulped and felt his heart go fast. The thing between his legs then became semi-hard in a span of few seconds.

"Di ba pwedeng maghintay sa bahay?" he asked.

"Dito na. Treat this as my thank you gift to you for supporting me always." Maine replied before unzipping his pants. Richard just smirked and opened his legs wider to give Maine enough space to pleasure him. Maine grinned and shoved her hand down his pants.

"OMG Ruru, paano natin sasabihin sa kanila?" Gabbi asked before she continued pacing back and forth inside Ruru's room.

"I don't know ... pero I'm sure maiintindihan naman nila eh." He answered.

"Ugh ... then come on ... tara bumili tayo habang wala sina Mommy. Ilang araw na akong delayed jusko. Baka mamaya ..."

"Where are we going to buy that?" Ruru asked her.

"Sa drug store san pa ba?"

"Fine."

"Ru, pag-buntis ako panagutan mo 'to ah?"

"I will."
