Chapter 2
I moaned in annoyance as my cell phone started vibrating loudly on my nightstand next to me and blasting music loudly throughout the room. I moved my hand around on the desk until I felt it and I pressed talk. I proceeded to put the phone to my ear.
"Wha...?", i mumbled into the receiver.
"ARE YOU SERIOUSLY STILL IN BED?!" My best friend screamed in a shrill voice over the receiver. Shay was a petite girl with wavy brown hair and hazel eyes. Don't let her small appearance deceive you though. She is very feisty and not a person to mess with unless you want to lose horrendously.
"...Shay.. Wha Ya Want...?" I was still half asleep but unfortunately beginning to wake up due to her shrieking through the receiver. Pretty sure my poor ears would be ringing all day.
"You better hurry up! I am outside your house waiting in my car! You are going to be late for the party of the century!!!"
"Oh crap!", I shot upright in bed and started grabbing clothes from my closet, "I completely forgot to set my alarm! I'll be right out."
"You know it's well past morning??"
Ignoring her last comment I hung up. I threw on a pair of tight washed out skinny jeans and settled on wearing a black tank top which I proceeded to dress up a bit by adding a bunch of necklaces. I then ran a brush through my straight, waist length raven black hair and put on a bit of mascara with a light layer of eyeliner to help accentuate my light blue eyes.
I then rushed down the stairs into the kitchen where I was greeted by my "parental guardians". They were the 3rd family to of adopted me. I had been taken back to the orphanage by the others because they got sick of my 'attitude' and all the bad luck I brought along with me.
I loved the parents I had now though. They kept me and were so accepting of all my flaws. They always pointed out the best in me and made sure I would see it as well. They made it obvious that they loved me just as much as their own child.
Gracie.
She was pretty much what you would imagine as the cutest little angel. She had short blonde hair that she always wore in piggy tails and she spoke in that little child lisp. She was only 6 and I loved her to death. I am very protective of her. Lord protect anyone in the future or now who attempted to mess with this child while I was around.
The moment I walked in the kitchen Gracie ran up to me and I scooped her up in my arms and swung her around. Her joyful little giggles filled the room and made my heart feel a million times lighter with the happiness they brought. I then placed her back down and gave her a quick kiss on the head and rushed to the refrigerator. I impatiently glanced around the random assortments of food then settled for an apple.
"Where are you off to?" my mom asked curiously as my dad peeked over his newspaper to listen as well.
"I'm off to Josh's party. The one he throws every year a week before school gets out. This one is supposed to be the biggest one yet since were graduating." I spoke excitedly and in a rush, "See ya! Expect me to be back late!"
With that I rushed out the door and into Shay's beat up car. She then sped off as fast as the car could handle. Immediately she began scolding me for my carelessness on how I never set alarms for things that aren't school related and that one of these days I'd miss out on something really important because she wouldn't be there to help me. I just stared out the window sort of bobbing my head as if I was agreeing. Not too long of a semi scolding later her tone changed and her excitement won out. I turned towards her and smiled. We spent the rest of the car ride chatting excitedly about how we thought the party would go.
