Chapter 11
"So um... Can I get up now?"
His grip on me loosened a bit and I took advantage of that and sprung to my feet. The moment I was up I began going back down. As I began falling back one tear made it's way down my cheek. The last thing I felt was warm arms wrap around me before I hit the floor.
Josh's Point Of View
I looked down at her delicate form in my arms. I picked her up bridal style and headed back to her room. Once I was outside her room I had to take a deep breath. I hadn't been in this room ever since Mom... It was the best room in the house and it had once belonged to my mother. My dad was reluctant to give it to her and was surprised when I insisted. I truly wanted Jinx to be as comfortable as possible here.
"I have to suck it up." With that said I walked inside and layed Jinx upon the bed. I then rushed to the restroom and opened up the small cupboard inside the personal restroom and pulled out first aid supplies.
Rushing back to Jinx I took out the bandages and cleaning supplies. I can not believe I didn't tell her that she might of hit her head. I don't know why I didn't speak up. I'm such an idiot at times. I truly tried to take the brunt of the fall but I was just so surprised.
I gently parted her hair away from her face. She looked so peaceful...
"Dang it Josh! She's injured get a hold of yourself!" I began cleaning her wounds and after I got back into the rhythm of taking care of someone I was able to focus not on her beautifulness but on helping her. Once her gash on her head was cleaned and I had stopped it from bleeding I wrapped a gauze bandage gently around her head. Finally satisfied that she was alright I carefully adjusted her so that she was under the covers and had a comfy pillow under her head. I pulled up a chair and sat near her. Since it was now summer it's not like I had homework to attend to. That and I wanted to make sure she didn't freak out when she woke up.
I really don't understand why I was feeling this way. I felt so protective of her. Yet I didn't even know her. I have no idea why my dad suddenly knew to pick her up at the orphanage. I have no idea why any of this was happening. All I knew was that I felt protective of her. Of this complete stranger who I had only seen in the hallways a few times. She truly looked so peaceful right now. She must have been crying really hard. I honestly don't blame her. But I promise to myself that I will try and make her stay as enjoyable as possible.
Because I know how it feels to lose someone you care dearly about. Maybe that was why dad had adopted her so quickly....
