Chapter 17

(Jinx's point of View)

I heard laughter in my ear and the grip on me loosened. I swung around to see the one who had jumped on me was none other than Josh. I narrowed my eyes at him. He was bent over clutching his stomach in laughter.

"Man... I... have never... scared... someone... that bad... You screamed... and..." The rest became illegible as he erupted into fits of laughter.

I continued to narrow my eyes until I got an idea. Since he had techniquelly just tagged me I could get him back. Not my fault he made it easy for me.

"Tag!" I tagged him then began running once again.

He got over his laughter immediately and began to run at me full speed.

"Not fair!"

"Not my fault you didn't make rules against it in the beginning! Everyone knows you should!" I called back at him.

I made sure I didn't run so fast that he couldnt see me.

When I was sure he was still in my point of view...

"Ow!... ow ow ow ow..." I cried in shock then sat on the floor clutching my ankle.

"W- what happened?? Are you okay? Did you twist or break your ankle??" His face turned into one of concern as he bent down to observe my ankle.

"I- I dont know it hurts..." I moved my grip so he could look at my ankle.

He started to pull up the bottom of my jeans to get a better look at it when I quickly moved forward and began tickling his sides!

"Tickle! tickle! tickle!"

"Ah! S- stop i- it! ha-- ha---" He rolled onto his back as I continued to tickle him.

"That will teach you to sneak up on-- eeeek!"

I was interrupted from my amazing revenge by him all of a sudden grabbing my upper arms and lifting me up. He then quickly pinned me on the ground.

"Hey! No fair!" He was now on top of me pinning my arms against my chest. He was grinning ear to ear with his face a mere inches from mine.

My breath hitched in my throat when I realized just how close he really was.

His smile seemed to slowly dissapear as he came to the same realization as me.

I could smell his sweet breathe which gently tickled my face and could notice faint laugh marks at the corner of his warm eyes that seemed to draw me in.

His eyes seemed to be drawing me further and further in so much so it seemed as if I was getting closer and closer to them. I closed my eyes as my head began to swim.

"Hey did you guys forget about me???" My eyes snapped open and all of a sudden his weight was gone and he was standing with his arm extended towards me.

Right then Shay appeared from behind a tree and saw me on the floor.

"What happened??" Her face lit up in alarm.

"Oh she just tripped as I was chasing her." He smiled in amusement.

I continued to lay there on the floor in astonishment. Was he really just about to kiss me? Was I just about to kiss him?

My thoughts were interrupted by Josh clearing his throat and I realized he still had his arm outstretched to help me up. I had been just laying on the floor. I quickly grabbed his hand and he hauled me up.

I coughed awkwardly and Shay stared at me confused while Josh had an amused smirk on his face.

"Well um shouldnt we head back?" I gained two confused looks in my direction but then they looked up realizing it was beginning to get dark.

"Wow! we've been playing all day! Jinx is right. For once," She flashed a grin at me and I gave her a mockingly look of being insulted, "So who was the loser?"

We all chattered happily but my mind was wandering back to Josh's eyes and how I felt right before he was about to kiss me.
