Imagine waking up early in the morning to see Tao because today marks the third year you've been dating him. When you get to his house, you see him still asleep. "Would he have forgotten today's our anniversary?" You thought. You seen him smiling as his eyes were closed. "He must be having a sweet dream instead," you muttered. You pulled the blankets away from him. Tao's reaction was slower than you thought. He opened his eyes a minute after you pulled the blankets away. He seemed clueless.
"Morning sunshine. You're early," he mumbled with his eyes closed.
"Early? You're later than usual.." You said, referring to previous years when he had surprises for you.
He pulls your arms with little effort as he seems to be somewhat still asleep. You pulled away your arms and stormed away in anger. The reason why you were so upset was because he always remembered this very special day every year for the last two years and he'd always make the day more special than the other days. At school, you would completely ignore his existence compared to usual when you two always held hands together as he walks you to class. Today you avoided him as much as you could. Though you were ignoring him, you found yourself glancing at him a lot. He was popular, which made you feel uncomfortable that you weren't by his side because usually all the girls would surround him when you aren't around. When a girl went up to him trying to flirt with him, you rushed to his side without second thoughts.
"Don't you know he has a girlfriend? And she's standing right in front of you," you angrily said.
The girl left after giving you a look implying that you were crazy. You could see Tao smiling at the corner of your eyes.
"Don't think that I've forgiven you just because of this..." You muttered as you walked away but he grabbed your arms
"If you've come all the way here to claim that you're mine and make sure no one flirts with me, then might as well stop ignoring me, right?" He asks.
"I didn't do that to tell anyone that I'm yours.. I only did that because I want you to be alone forever and that you won't hurt anyone by forgetting that today is our three anniversary!!" You shouted at him.
"Hey, come on, I-" he said as he held your arms to prevent you from leaving.
"Let me go," you interrupted him.
"I didn't forget our anniversary..." He said.
You pulled your arms away from his grip and left. The moment you walked out the school doors, people jumped out saying surprise. You seen a big poster saying, "Happy 3 Year Anniversary (YourName)". There were people standing by the poster holding a giant panda bear and chocolate. You covered your mouth in surprise. As your eyes got watery, the doors opened behind you. Tao came walking towards you with a rose and a microphone. Music started playing and he started singing a song he wrote for you. When he was in front of you, you handed you the rose. He walked in circles around you as he continued to sing. He then hugged you from behind while singing for you.
"I hope I didn't overdo this surprise but since it's our three year anniversary, I wanted to make it unforgettable," he said.
You hugged him and his your face in his chest because you were in tears and you didn't want anyone to see that.
"I tried to pretend like I forgot today's our anniversary to make it more of a surprise but I guess I've overdone that too," he said feeling sorry.
You hugged him tighter as you tried to hold in your tears. You didn't want him to feel sorry, because you were the one who needed to be sorry.
"I love you, and I promise you I won't upset you like I did early," he said. "And don't even think about saying sorry, I don't need you to. Just promise me you'll always be mine."
You nodded as you hugged him even tighter.
