Imagine spending the day with Kris at the park while doing volunteer. It was recess time for the kids, and you played hide and seek with them. Knowing it was your birthday, Kris had a gift prepared for you but he was too shy to give it to you. He also felt like it was the wrong time because you were too busy having fun with the kids so he decided that he'd give it to you at tonight's school dance. Later that night at the dance, you went with your friends but they eventually ditched you for their dates. You sat on the side with a beverage. You lied to your friends about your birthday being next week so they could have a blast with their dates for their party(they were seniors). You took another sip of your drink and watched everyone dancing. Suddenly someone came up to you. It was your friend. Because you couldn't hear each other so well, he took you upstairs where it was more quiet.
"You're so quiet today, it's so unusual," he said.
"Yea I guess," you replied.
"Especially on your birthday, what's wrong?" He asked.
"How did you know it's my birthday today?" You asked.
"Don't ask me how. I've got you a gift, I hope you'll like it," he said as he pulled out a box wrapped in gift paper.
Kris was looking for you all around the building. He had something to say and give to you. He only then found you in a room upstairs with a guy. He stood there watching for a while because he just kept thinking about how beautiful you are in that dress. When you opened the gift, you saw the necklace you always dreamed of having. While you were extremely excited and happy, Kris was feeling down because he bought the same gift hoping to surprise you for your birthday. Now that he didn't have a good present for you, he withdrew and decided not to talk to you but you saw him before he left.
"Kris!" You called.
He immediately put his hands in his pockets trying to hide the present as he slowly turned to face you.
"Hey (YourName)," he said while blushing.
"I've been looking for you," you said.
"Really? I-" he replied.
Your friend then left you two alone.
"Don't you have something to say?" You asked.
"You look really beautiful tonight," he said.
"Hmm, is there anything else you have to say?" You asked while smiling.
"Happy Birthday," he said.
You hugged him and he quickly pulled out his hands from his pockets. While doing so, he dropped the box with the necklace. You kneeled down to pick up and when Kris realized it, it was too late to take it back because you were already holding it.
"What's this?" You asked.
You then opened the box and saw the same necklace your friend just gifted you. He took back the gift, and avoided your eyes.
"I- I'll make it up to you, I'll get you a better gift n-next time," he stumbled over his words as he continued to avoid your eyes.
"What? I like this necklace. It's beautiful. You've even put in my initials on it, it's so special. Thank you Kris," you said as you took back the gift from his hands. Then you wrapped your arms around him and leaned your head against his chest as you smiled.
"Won't you help me out on the necklace?" You pleaded.
He lifted up your hair gently to put on the necklace without pulling your hair.
"It's beautiful," you said. "Let's go down for a dance!"
You took his hands and swung left to right while giving him a puppy face. He finally nodded his head and followed behind you. He had his hands around your waist as you had yours around his neck. Though you looked stunning today and because you kept looking at him, he avoided your eyes because he was too embarrassed. You then leaned your head against his chest while smiling.
"Having this dance with you is the best birthday present ever," you said.
He kissed the top of your lips. You lifted your head off his chest and looked at him while smiling. You knew he liked you for a while now, and now that he's finally showing his love for you, you were really happy. He looked into your eyes that sparkled under the dim lights, and slowly leaned in to kiss your lips.
