Imagine KyungSoo as your childhood best friend that you've grown up with until now that you both are adults. Throughout these years, you've tried showing your love towards him and giving him hints that you didn't just want to stay as best friends but to become a couple. With all the hints, he's never figured it out because simply you were the only girl he's ever chosen to be around so he never understood what love was, he didn't understand what it meant when he was so much happier with you around, he didn't understand why his heart beats faster with you around. All these years, his explanation for it was just that you were his best friend. Even when he was jealous whenever you were around other guys, he used the same explanation that you were his best friend. All his other friends tell him that he's fallen for his best friend but he didn't believe it because he couldn't imagine doing all those couple things he sees on every corner of the street with you. You both were close enough to prank everyone to make them think you two were dating, but if KyungSoo had thought about it in reality to be your boyfriend, he always became shy at the topic. You two grew up to be the kind of best friends that would prank each other but also show a lot of affection towards each other. It may seem like a love and hate relationship but it was just the way you two got along with one another. Pranks were to make each other laugh and showing each other affection was a way of showing love and appreciation to one another. Over time, you've realized how he only opens up to you without being afraid of being judged. And you've found yourself falling for who he really is.

Today is national best friend day and you've made plans with KyungSoo to go to the places that the two of you went to before. Obviously there were too many locations to go in one day so the two of you picked your favorite places. And at the end of the night, you'd be sitting in his backyard looking up at stars and eating ice cream together like how you would every year. This year you had something else planned, but it was a surprise for him.

You met up with him at the playground the two of you always played together at. Back then when you were little, you were really playful and always jumping around. One day you scraped your knees and KyungSoo ordered that you stayed in place while he ran to get medicine for you. He attended your wounds carefully and knowing that it would sting, he let you pull on his shirt whenever you couldn't take the pain. Even when you were hurt, you wanted to go on the swings. He always disagreed but would still end up pushing you so you can swing higher. When you were high enough, you'd tell him to get on as well to swing with you but he always denied your offer so that he could watch over you if you fall. The next place was the arcade because back in your time there was this really famous game that everyone talked about at school. If you weren't up to date with the game, no one would really talk to you because the game was what everyone talked about. Although you had each other to talk to, KyungSoo didn't want you to get bullied or hurt for not playing the game so he took time and money out for you to relax from your studies to play the game. A lot of time was wasted on the game but the two of you managed to make room for studying at the library, which was the next place you two were going to today. The two of you were always loud and talkative which was prohibited in the library to keep a quiet atmosphere for everyone to read. You both carried a notebook around to write notes to each other. Back then even with passing notes, you both were loud because you two were always laughing at each other's lame jokes. Whenever the two of you knew you were getting too loud, you'd both look down at your own book and start doing homework. Back then, he was just as silly as he is now. When you both were doing work, he'd sometimes whisper your name to get your attention and make silly faces. Time went on, and the both of you were going into high school. You pranked him by telling him you were going off to a high school far from home. That night, he went home begging his parents to switch him out to another high school. It was amusing because you weren't really going off to a high school far from home; you were going to the same high school as him. The next day, you laughed telling him that going to a high school far from home was a lie. He got upset but only for a while because he was happy that were going to the same high school. Time does fly faster when you're with the people that makes you happy. After visiting all the places the two of you planned to go to, you headed to his house to look up at stars and eat ice cream. Just before he went to the kitchen to get ice cream, you pulled him into his bedroom and pulled out a photo book filled with pictures you took together with him. You sat on the bed leaning against the wall with him and you were reminiscing the past through these pictures that you held in your hands. As you got to the last picture in the book, you turned to him and gathered all your courage to confess to him. He didn't exactly understand so you were precise with the details from the little feelings you get when he's around to those feelings of missing him when he's gone. He admitted that it was almost the same for him, but when you suggested that it was love, he denied it feeling shy and embarrassed. He immediately got up off the bed and changed the topic to eating ice cream while looking up at the stars. You got up after him and went to the backyard waiting for him. He took longer than he usually does, and after a couple of minutes he came out empty handed.

"Go home now. It's getting late," he said avoiding your eyes.

He lead you out from his backyard and waves goodbye to you. For the next few days, he ignores your calls and denies any hang out days. He wouldn't even reply to your text. He kept ignoring you ever since that night. Over the days that he's been ignoring you, he's been thinking about how he really feels towards you. And within those days, he admits that he really misses you, which ultimately helps him finally come to the conclusion that he has fallen for his best friend. He starts going online doing research knowing that he's lacking knowledge in the topic on love and relationships. He stays up late reading as many articles as he can to know how to be a good boyfriend and how to make you happy.

It's been a few weeks now that he's been ignoring you and he's finally decided to visit you. He came with flowers, chocolate, a card, and a teddy bear. He had his car filled with different flowers because he didn't know which flowers you liked best. He was at your door with his hand full. You laughed, almost wanting to cry because of how happy you were to see him with such a sweet surprise.

"Did you win the lottery or something?" You laughed.

"Do you like them?" He smiled awkwardly.

You pulled him inside and helped him put down the flowers and gifts. Every day, he'd come with flowers and gifts like how he'd learn online. It was adorable and sweet, but it wasn't what you really wanted. You told him one day to just bring in groceries instead of flowers, and from that day on, he'd make you food. You'd help with washing the fruits and vegetables while he did the cooking because he didn't want you getting too close to the fire. He made your favorite food in the shape of a different flower everyday. It was really creative and sweet. You've spent days with him like a couple although he's never asked you out yet. Eventually, you've finally gained his trust in letting you cook and be near the fire. Cooking with his was so much more romantic and sweet than going out on some expensive date. When you were making dinner, he came behind you and hugged you around the waist which made you almost want to squeal.

"You don't have to follow everything you read online. I don't need flowers or chocolate everyday. I just want to have you around and cook with you as if we were husband and wife, but I can get use to back hugs," you said as you turned your head to him.

He then gives you a kiss on the cheeks.
