Always Out of Reach

Boyfriend. I, Joey Graceffa, had a boyfriend. And not just any boyfriend.....Daniel Preda. I practically skipped to school that day....for once I was truly happy. Nothing seemed to matter. I had one person who cared about me, who chose me.....

"Ah good day mister preda." I ran up to him from behind and wrapped my arms around his waist.

"Good day mister graceffa." Daniel laughed, turning around to give me a hug. "You okay?" He asked.

"Never better." I looked up at him and smiled. "Come on, let's go to class." I grabbed his hand.

"Well well well.....look who it is." Hunter stood, surrounded  by his usual gang, looking smug.

"What do you want?" Daniel sighed, still tightly gripping my hand.

Hunter walked up to Daniel, squaring up to him. "I can't believe you chose him..." He turned to me and jabbed a finger at me.  "Over me." Daniel rolled his eyes.

"Why Hunter? Because you're so special?" Daniel laughed.

"And above that." Hunter ignored Daniel completed. "You turned out to be a disgusting faggot." Daniels face fell. He looked so hurt. Something clicked in me.

"Don't you dare!" I yelled. "Don't you dare act all high and mighty and then have all that crap come out of your mouth." I raised my fist, ready to punch him.

"Leave it Joey." Daniel grabbed my hand. "They're not worth it."

"You are pathetic!" I spat before walking off.

"Thanks." Daniel said quietly.

"For what?" I asked.

"Defending me.....almost punching Hunter." Daniel laughed.

"Oh it was nothing." The truth was it felt so good to stand up to Hunter.

"I was wondering.....I know we've only just got together but.....do you want come round to mine for tea and....I don't know...meet my mum."

I thought for a second.  I had no idea what Daniels mum was like. What if she was snobby and looked down at me? What if she didn't like me and Daniel started to second guess us?

"Urrrm. ..."

"She'll love you." Daniel reassured me.

"Ok then..." I smiled.

"Mum, this is Joey.....  boyfriend." Daniel introduced me to Maria. She was quite short but very pretty.

"Hi." I said tentatively. I was nervous. I had to make a good impression.

"Hello Joey." She smiled kindly at me.
"Well come on in, I've made some dinner."

I walked into the dining room. It was beautiful. Expensive, white furniture and a huge crystal light.

The dinner was amazing. Maria was an great cook. She was also really kind, it's strange how different Daniels parents were to mine....so....supportive of everything Daniel did.

"It was really nice meeting you, Joey." Maria pulled me into a hug as I left the house. "See you again some time?"

"Ye." I said nervously. She walked back into the kitchen.

"Relax." Daniel pulled me into a hug. "She likes you."

"Your sure?"I asked

"Of course! What's not to like?"  He brushed my hair away from my face. "Your beautiful." And then we were kissing again. It was perfect. How did I get so lucky?
