The shopping came to over $500.....oops.

"Are you sure you don't want me to pay for any?" I asked at the till feeling guilty.

"Joey! How many times? It's fine!" Daniel laughed.

I smiled. "Ok then. But next time I'm paying for some."

"Whatever." Daniel shrugged.

On the way out we walked past Hunter again.

"Nice seeing you." Daniel said sweetly and held my hand just to make a point. Hunter just glared. ..  and I didn't mind.

"Have I told you I love you?" I grinned as we excited to shop.

"You might have mentioned it once or twice." Daniel smirked and pecked me on the lips.

"Right where to now?" I asked him.

"Lunch?" He suggested.

"Lunch." I nodded.

We sat in a little cafe in the outskirts of the city. It had a retro feel to it, with black and red tiles lining the walls. The floor was black and white and the ceiling was covered in orange, dome lights.

"What do you want?" Daniel said staring at the menu in front of him. Suddenly, my mind drifted. I was at the restaurant that I was in a few months ago. The waiter was asking me what I wanted. I told him. Then my dad was staring at me, telling me (in his subtle, clever way) how greedy I was....

"Joey?" I snapped out of my thoughts.

"Oh..sorry." I said.

"What would you like?" He smiled st me.

"The burger and fries please." I waited for his reaction. Would it be the same as my dad's?

"Oh that sounds good. I'm gonna get that aswell." He grinned. I relaxed.

We ordered our food and chatted for a while. It'd been a while since we'd just talked about nothing. It was nice.

"Two burgers with a side of fries." The waiter came over with two plates of delicious looking food.

"Thank you." I smiled at her.

Ding! The door opened. The cafe was virtually empty so both daniel and I turned to look at the door. I froze.

"Joey." My dad said stifly. I said nothing. He sat down with Venessa at a table on the other side of the cafe.

"Daniel can we please leave?" I whispered. He stared at me and held my hand across the table.

"Stand up to him. We were here first." He smiled reassuringly. "Don't let him control you."

I nodded and tried to ignore the stares I was getting from my dad. He kept looking at the food in front of me and shaking his head.....dissapointed again.

Why did I care? He was never going to change. He was never going to be happy with who I was. He was never going to accept me. He was always going to be the same. Always thinking he's right, never being open to other people's opinions. Always wanting to be more important than everyone else. A narcissist.

So, I ignored him. I carried on eating my meal, carried on holding Daniels hand, forced myself to have a good time...just to annoy him. This was getting easier.
