"Why are you late?" The PE teacher asked when Daniel and I turned up to class.
I had no idea what to say.
"The teacher kept us behind to talk to us about something." Daniel said, not stuttering once. I was aware that we were getting shady looks from other students but I tried to ignore them. I would NEVER usually be seen with Daniel.
"Well ok then. But hurry up and get changed. Everyone else is ready!" The teachers said sharply. Daniel smirked at me and I smiled back.
Everyone else made their way to the gym leaving me and Daniel to get changed. It was a little awkward, but Daniel didn't seem to care. He took off his shirt and stood there.....shirtless while he got his PE kit out of his bag.
"Like what you see." He laughed. I looked down and blushed, unaware of the fact that I'd been staring at him.
I began to get changed. To be honest I was shy; my body was nothing compared to his. I'd been told often enough how weak I was. As soon as he looked away I hurriedly took of my shirt and grabbed my PE shirt. I looked up to find him staring at me.....Damn I wasn't quick enough.
I blushed...he must think I'm just naturally this red-faced because I'm always blushing around him. "What?" I said trying to be confident.
"Nothing." He smirked
"Why are you staring at me?"
"We'll you were staring at me so why can't I stare at you." I looked down, embarrassed at the fact he caught me staring at him.
"Plus.....I like what I see." That was it! He'd been flirting with me for the past 20 minutes....he had to be messing.
"What are you doing?" I demanded.
"Getting changed." He replied calmly
"No! I mean why are you talking to me? Are you messing with me? Because I really don't need that! You're probably not even gay! You were probably dared by your immature friends or something. Just leave me alone." I shouted.
He stood there for a minute, obviously shocked by my outburst.
"What if I like you? What if I'm sick of my "friends" and want to spend time with you?" He challenged me.
I said nothing. He didn't want to spend time with me. Who would? It's not like I'm a good person....I'm a sarcastic, moody bitch most of the time. I remained silent and walked into the gym. Shortly followed by Daniel.
"Agh so you finally decided to join us did you?" The teacher said when we entered. Everybody stared. I suddenly felt self-conscious. I didn't like people looking at me. I knew what they were thinking inside their heads. Weak. Ugly. Depressed. I looked down, avoiding eye contact.
The teacher sighed. "Well seeing as you're late you'll have to be paired together." Great. That's exactly what I need. Some people sniggered.
"We're just passing the ball to each other for a warm up." The teacher explained. "Go over there."
We trudged over to the empty space in silence. I was rubbish at PE and Daniel was amazing so this was going to be fun (!)
Daniel threw the ball....hard. it hit me right in the gut and caused me to topple over. Now I looked like a total fool.
"Oh...sorry!" Daniel exclaimed. "Let me help you up." He ran over to me and held out his hand. Reluctantly I grabbed it. I. Was. Holding. His. Hand.
"Thanks." I blushed....again.
"Sorry....you're so small I didn't think it would actually knock you over." He chuckled.
"Ye....I am pretty weak." I muttered.
"No you're not. You're perfect." He smiled.
"Ye...right." My wall went up again. Why was I doing this? After months of wanting Daniel to notice me, he finally had. And what was my way of dealing with it? Blocking him out and being awkward. Why was I such a screw up?
