Nowadays, even at night, Chanyeol doesn't talk to Baekhyun, and the smaller doesn't try to talk to him either.
Recently Chanyeol's been feeling as if something's missing, and more often than not he feels as if he can punch someone.
The only thing that brings his mood up is when he's with Kyungsoo, whom he's getting closer to more and more as each day passes.
During music, only the two of them work together as Baekhyun is off to Kris messing around, but it's not like Kyungsoo minds.
During cooking, they would work quietly and not speak a word to one another, which Kyungsoo and Jessica find strange.
During physics, Chanyeol doesn't attend at all, and Baekhyun can do nothing but cover his absence.
They don't talk anymore, and yet Chanyeol feels more agitated than ever, even though he's supposed to be happy with this progress. After all, he's supposed to (kind of) hate Baekhyun. He's been wanting to get away from Baekhyun ever since they became roommates. Right?
During dinner, Kyungsoo would talk to Chanyeol, but Chanyeol is only half-heartedly responsive, as is Joonmyun. Because the group is so big now, no one really notices.
At every meal, Joonmyun would eat quickly and then walk off quickly by himself, his face always pulled down into a frown. Chanyeol would follow suit later, his eyebrows turned down as much as his scowl.
Kris would at first look up worriedly at Joonmyun, get over himself, then continue eating.
And when no one's looking, Baekhyun does the same with Chanyeol.
The more Kyungsoo gets to know Chanyeol, the more he likes the taller.
Chanyeol not only has a shy innocent clumsy side, a cheeky playful side, a caring side, but he also has a y side to him (where most of it is composed of his deep voice).
"Hey~ you're wearing the watch I gave you." Kyungsoo points out, running his fingers over Chanyeol's wrist. The taller grins.
"Yeah. It's cool, that's why." Chanyeol lets Kyungsoo touch it. "Thanks for giving me a birthday present. When's yours?" Kyungsoo's large eyes blinks, taken aback by the question.
"I don't usually celebrate-"
"C'mon~~~~" Chanyeol pleads, pouting with those lips that Kyungsoo is beginning to think about a lot. Eventually, Kyungsoo sighs. He honestly is beginning to gain a soft spot for his crush.
"... Fine. But don't tell anyone, okay? I hate crowds." Upon seeing Chanyeol nod enthusiastically, he smiles lightly. "January 12th."
It takes a few moments for Chanyeol to register this new piece of information, his large eyes blinking dumbly, then he gasps.
"Wait. That's in a few days!!" Chanyeol points. The smaller smiles mischievously.
"You- ... What do you want? For your birthday?" Kyungsoo shakes his head.
"Nothing. Chanyeol, that's why I didn't want to tell you. I knew you'd -"
"Come ooooooooooon..." Chanyeol continues, knowing it works so nicely on his crush. Kyungsoo sighs again.
"Fine. But you can't give me anything else." Chanyeol once again nods enthusiastically.
"... I want you." Chanyeol blinks, flushing, but Kyungsoo hasn't finished. "... To just be there on my birthday. Just like I was there on yours."
Chanyeol sits there, dumbfounded. Kyungsoo's cheeks are tinted with pink.
"I-I-I mean, if that's too much to ask, you don't have to -"
