Chapter 42 – Hannah’s POV
Before Cassie let us know what ideas were forming in her head, Nate suggested that someone should look at my body and check for any bruises, claiming that he doesn’t want to violate my privacy which I found utterly adorable.
Cassie helped me walk to another room linked with the dressing room, whilst I groaned in pain. She helped take off my dress, my heels and all the other necessities. I stood in front of the mirror in my bra and underwear and gasped. There was a nasty purple bruise forming on my stomach where he punched me, and a bright red handprint on my cheek.
“Sit down, I need to check your head for any bruises, he threw you down quite roughly” Cassie ordered but had a sympathetic look on her face. One that I hated so much. I hate it when people pity me. I did as she said and she took all the pins out of my hair, scanning my scalp for any bruises.
“You don’t have bruises but you do have a slight bump” She scrunched up her face.
“Cassie...” I trailed off, not knowing how to approach the subject.
“Don’t. We can talk about this later, I’m here for you now and that’s all that matters right now” She smiled at me and walked out of the room. She came back in with some ice packs, a lotion and some extra clothing.
She helped me lay down on the bed there – I have no idea why there was a bed – and handed me the ice pack to place on my head and face, whilst she put one down on my stomach. I winced.
“Fuck that hurts like a bitch” I swore.
“Did Little miss Hannah swear?” Cassie feigned shock.
“This kills, I’m not going to be all rainbows and unicorns here” I groaned. She laughed.
“You guys okay in there? You’ve been in there for a while” Nate’s worried voice came through.
“We’re fine, I’m just going to fix her up a bit and I’ll bring her out soon, stop being a worry wart” Cassie yelled back.
“Well excuse me if I’m worried about my girlfriend” I could imagine him glaring.
“She’s in good hands Natey, you can leave” and soon I heard his footsteps retreating.
“Cassie, I’m so sorry. I didn’t even think for a moment that it was the same Craig. I’m the reason you broke up with him and I’m so so sorry because you were so happy with him, I’m probably the cause of all the fights and problems you’ve had” I rushed out.
“I’d slap you but um ... yeah, but no. Don’t you dare blame yourself for this okay? You didn’t deserve any of this to happen, and to be honest I’m glad you were there, if you weren’t, then he’d probably still be using me somehow, I at least found out the truth” She smiled but it faltered.
She picked up the ice bags, and I noticed the swelling went down on my stomach. She then started rubbing the lotion on my stomach to soothe the pain. I sighed in relief.
“I know it was better for you to find out the truth but I still don’t like the fact he had to use you to get to your best friend” I frowned.
“I’d rather have my best friend safe over having a boyfriend” She replied back and I saw her smiling.
“You’re amazing you know that?” I complimented. She laughed.
“Yep, now you tell me missy, how’s your relationship with Nate?” She wriggled her eyebrows and motioned me to close my eyes so she could rub the lotion on my face.
A big smile stretched across my face as I thought of Nate.
Nate Daniels.
My life saver.
