First (Draco Malfoy x reader)

Chapter 4- Draco Malfoy

  

After the lesson, you decide to find the library to start with your homework. Not that you actually had got more than one small homework, that actually was quite voluntarily, but you think it is best to do that anyway. And it wasn't like you had something better to do anyway. You ask directions from Anthony who asks if you would like company, but you answer that you actually prefer studying alone. This is not entirely true, but from the relief in his face when you say this, you see that you've made the right choice.

You start walking towards the library when you see a group of Slytherins. At first you just try to pass them, but they notice you and start talking. Or that is, Malfoy starts talking.

"You're that new girl!" 

well obviously

"What was your name again? L/N, that's it isn't it? I recognise the name, it's a true pure-blood family, right?"

"Yes" is all you say. You have decided not to look him straight in the eyes, so instead you look at the brown haired girl beside him. She is staring at you and seems quite annoyed and upset by the answer. I wonder if she's his girlfriend. The thought crosses your mind. It would explain why she seemed so jealous, even though there was no reason -he was probably just deciding if you were a person he should hate or accept. But then you remember the way he greeted her at the train and decide that they definitely aren't a couple. But she totally has a huge crush on him. Somehow, the thought of Draco (no, Malfoy, remember?! you tell yourself) not having a girlfriend makes you feel a bit better. But then you realise how stupid this thought is and decide to not think of it anymore.

"-ing? Hello are you listening to what I'm saying?!" you hear Malfoy say all of a sudden. You get so surprised that you automatically look him straight in the eyes. Your eyes lock and all of a sudden you can't look away. It feels impossible.

"I said 'where are you going' since you're new and are walking by yourself"

"T -to the library" great, now I can't speak properly. They are so going to mock me if they are the way they were described

You see that the girl is about to say something and judging by her expression it is a comment about your stuttering. But she is interrupted by Malfoy.

"Do you want me to show the way? I expect you don't know the way around Hogwarts yet and it may be good to have someone show you if you don't want to get lost."

You are surprised by this, and accept the offer (even though you most certainly would have found your way since you got at description but they didn't need to know that).

"Good. Crabbe, please accompany Pansy back to the common room. Goyle, you can either go with them or join me."

You can see that Pansy is not happy with this, which makes you quite happy. You don't know her but you are sure she is a horrible person.

You walk along the corridor with Malfoy next to you. Goyle is right behind you, but he doesn't really seem to follow the conversation. For some reason, it feels really easy to talk to him. Draco. Malfoy. He doesn't seem at all like the way he was described. He is so much more like the person you imagined after seeing him for the first time.

After a while you reach the library. You turn around to look at Draco. (You've decided that it's ok to think of him as Draco as long as you're careful to call him by last name when speaking. You don't want to give the impression of being too familiar or rude.) He smiles when he sees how excited you are about going into the library.

"It's just books, there's nothing to be excited about"

"You're wrong! There will be so many new ones and I love the atmosphere in libraries and getting to explore them! I've heard this one is really big so I've been looking forward to see it and breath the air inside!"

You start to blush when you realise how stupid it sounds. Why did you have too be such a typical nerd?

But Draco only laughs

"Well... thank you for the help to get here Malfoy" you say and start turning away from him.

"See you around" he says and starts walking away accompanied by Goyle.
