Most of the summer was gone. In one week you would go to get your books for your last year at Hogwarts and then you'd be back at the castle where you had spent most of your time over the past years.
You had met up with your friends a few times, but mostly in the beginning of the summer. You missed them a lot.
It was warm and sunny outside so you decided take a walk. Just as you went outside an owl came down to you with a letter.
Missed me?
You looked up and saw Draco standing at your gates with a smile. You ran as fast as you could and threw yourself at him, hugging him and kissing him while smiling and laughing.
"I've missed you so so much"
"I've missed you too, that's why I couldn't keep myself from coming here."
"I'm so happy you made that choice. I don't ever want to be without you this long again."
"Me neither. Let's see so that won't happen"
"Now you have to tell me what you've been up to all summer!" You say, but as you see Draco darken and hesitate you quickly add "but only if you want to of course, don't feel pressured."
"Let's take a walk and I can tell you at least a few things. I can't be here for as long as I'd like to, I haven't told anyone I was going here so I have to get back today, but I'd like to be with you and not think about the rest of the world for a bit too."

Everything is getting darker. You can hear rumours and whispers down the hallways about what's going on, but no-one is sure about anything. You mostly try to spend time with your friends, but it's not the same as before. Not everyone has returned after the summer, and you hear about some of the parents joining ranks with he-who-must-not-be-named. There's a lot of distrust between the students, even though nothing is said out loud.
"Now, try and cheer up Y/N" you hear Mandy's voice say as she approaches you where you're sitting on the couch. "I'm sure everything will work out and things will return back to normal."
"I do appreciate your positivity Mandy, but let's be realistic. Everything seems to be going downhill, and they won't return to normal. At least not in a long time, if it ever will.

The school year is nothing like normal. You spend a lot of time in the library as a way to distract from what's going on. For fun, you read up on the history of Hogwarts, with focus on everything you can find abut the founders and the houses.
At the evening, you sit in the common room with some of your fellow Ravenclaw students. Since everyone likes discussing books, you start talking about you've read about the house founder, Rowena Ravenclaw. A lot of the others had read about her as well, and since none had read everything there was to found, you did find out at least a few new facts. One of the things you found to be most interesting -and you didn't seem to be the only one- was the lost diadem of Ravenclaw.
"I wonder where it disappeared to, if it ever existed" you say to Mandy as you go up to bed.
"Me too. I guess the chances of finding it out is almost to none."

The final battle is coming closer, you can feel it. Everyone is nervous, but you know in your heart, that you aren't that scared really. Or, in fact you are terrified, but not in the way everyone else seems to be. You just wish with every part of your being that nothing will happen to Draco and that you can come through this together.
