Mae's pov

I held Georgie's sweating hand as we watched the reaction from the group to their new member. I don't care if they didn't accept her because either she was staying or I was going with her. The girl saved my life, gave us food, and helped me find the group. I owe everything to her. Relief flew over my body as each person started to lower their weapons slowly. I squeezed Georgie's hand and smiled down at her causing her to smile wildly. Officer grimes put his gun back in his waistband and walked up to us causing Georgie to hide into my side. Once In front of us, he looked down at her and then back at me. I smiled,

"When I was left at the farm, I was chased by a few walkers. I didn't have a weapon after I was out of bullets. She saved me, took me back to her camp, filled up 3 bags of canned goods and offered them to me and you guys. She saved me"

He searched my eyes for any sort of doubt that I might have in the girl. He seemed hesitant,

"Are there others?"

I shook my head, "her parents are dead and she was separated from her siblings. She's alone."

He nodded his head and bent down to Georgie's height who still had her face buried in my hip. I watched as she fearfully looked into officer grimes eyes as he asked,

"That all true?"

She nodded and gripped me tighter as her nerves set in. Officer grimes studied her for a few more minutes until a smile spread across his face,

"Well than there's only one thing left to do and that is thank you" he held a hand out for her to shake.

Georgie's grip on me softened as she looked from him, up to me. I smiled and nodded as she looked back at officer grimes. Instead of shaking his hand, she wrapped her hands around his neck in a huge embrace that almost knocked him off his feet. He wrapped his arms around the shaking girl and looked up to me as I smiled thankfully down at him. He nodded and pulled out of her hug,

"Welcome to the group"

She nodded and wiped a few tears off her cheek as he stood up and looked at me again.

"If she stays, she is your responsibility. You watch her and if she does anything, that's on you." He said sternly.

I nodded, "understood"

He smiled lightly and kissed me softly on the head before making his way back to the group.

"Who's that?" Georgie asked as he walked away, "is that your boyfriend?"

I chuckled and shook my head, "no way...he's more like a brother."

"Oh" she smiled as I gripped her hand and we walked to the group.

We stood in between Tdog and Daryl as we listened to the next step in the plan. I chuckled ever so often when I noticed Carl starring over at Georgie like he was in awe of another kid his age surviving.

"All right, we'll set up a perimeter. In the morning, we'll find gas and some supplies. We'll keep pushing on." Officer grimes explained.

"Glenn and I can go make a run now, try and scrounge up some gas." Maggie offered.

"No, we stay together. God forbid something happens and people get stranded without a car." Officer grimes countered.

"Rick, we're stranded now." Lori said.

"I know it looks bad, we've all been through hell and worse, but at least we found each other. I wasn't sure... I really wasn't... " he said making eye contact with me and then continuing, "but we did. We're together. We keep it that way. We'll find shelter somewhere. There's gotta be a place."
