We had been on the run for months without a decent place to stay. We are now currently stopped when we got run out of a house by walkers. We are tired and hungry, Carl even tried to eat dog food which didn't set too well with officer grimes. Daryl found an owl and tried to feed me some, but I refused. Lori's belly is getting bigger and is probably due within the next few weeks. Carl and Georgie have become close, somewhat inseparable which I think is pretty cute. Daryl on the other hand doesn't seem to like it. The past few months, the small girl has seemed to have gotten the tough redneck wrapped around her finger. He denies it every time I bring it up, but I know what I see. I haven't talked to officer grimes that much since the night after the farm. No one really has. All he's been about lately is leading this group and finding a safe place. Is there such a thing as a safe place?
Someone clearing their throat caused me to jump slightly and drop my pen. I heard a soft chuckle and looking up from my notebook I see daryl smirking down at me.
"Jerk" I grunted while picking my pen off the floor and closing my notebook.
He shook his head and sat down on the log next to me,"you ever gonna let me see what yer writin in there?"
"Nope" I smiled.
He smiled slightly back and then leaned in giving me a soft kiss immediately stealing my breath away. Daryl isn't one for public affection, but he'll do little things here and there to show his feelings. Pulling away, I smiled and leaned my head on his shoulder noticing Carl and Georgie showing eachother different comic books.
"Aren't they cute?" I smiled.
"Yea..cute" he grunted sarcastically.
Raising my head from his shoulder, I looked at him slyly,"you only don't like it because she's starting to like Carl more than you"
He looked at me like I was crazy,"hell nah, better for her to be around him instead of pestering me all the damn time."
"She only does because she wants you to teach her how to hunt" I smiled.
"Don't need to, that's my job plus she needs to just stay where I can...." He started to say but immediately cut himself off when he saw me smirking,
"Where you can what daryl? Where you can keep an eye on her? So she stays safe? Cause you care about her?"
"Shut up...you're just as annoyin as the girl" he shook his head causing me to laugh as he got up.
He stuck a hand out for me to grab and helped me up,"c'mon let's go see what the others are doin"
I smiled and nodded as we made our way to the others who were surrounding the hood of a truck with a map lay out on it.
"We've got no place left to go." Tdog sighed.
"When this herd meets up with this one, we'll be cut off, we'll never make it south." Maggie stated.
Daryl leaned further on the truck and looked at the map,"What do you say, it's about 150 head?"
"That was last week, could be twice that now." Glenn sighed.
Hershel stepped in and pointed at the blue line on the map,"This river could have delayed them. If we move fast, we might have a shot to tear right through this."
T-Dog sighed,"Yeah, but if this group joins with that one, they could spill out this way."
"So we're blocked." I stated turning back to daryl who slightly nodded back at me.
"Only thing to do is double back at 27th and swing towards Greenville." Officer grimes said.
T-Dog leaned on the truck next to me. I smiled when I saw his necklace dangling from his neck,
