Chapter 24: Dad

Maya's POV

The next two days were great! We got to spend time as a family and just hang out! Also the babies just said their first word! MAMA!!!!! Honestly I almost started crying. Tyler was actually the first one to say it but Chloe just repeats what he says and does. At 5:00 am Tuesday morning Mr. Matthews and Topanga, drove me, Riley, and Auggie back to New York for school. Josh said that he would drive the babies back later in the day so after I'm done with school he could just pick me up. Also my mom really wants to spend all the time she can with the babies. We get to school and I see Lucas standing outside waiting for me.

Lucas: Maya.

Maya: Huckleberry...

Lucas: It's been awhile since you called me that.

Maya: Yeah, well.

Lucas: Can we talk?

Maya: Not right now.

Lucas: Please?

Maya: I can't I got to go.

Lucas: Where are the babies?

Maya: In Philly.

Lucas: What?!!

Maya: Don't worry they are with my mom.

Lucas: Ok, when are they coming back to New York?

Maya: Today.

Lucas: Who's bringing them?

Maya: Josh.

Lucas: Josh?!!

Maya: That's what I said!

Lucas: Why does he have my kids?

Maya: Why does it matter?!! I trust him.

Lucas: Fine.

Maya: I'm going to meet with Kermit today.

Lucas: Your dad? Why?

Maya: Because Shawn is adopting me.

Lucas: Really, that's great Maya!

Maya: Yeah, I don't know how he's going to respond to that though.

Lucas: Do you want me to come?

Maya: No, I'm okay.

Lucas: Okay.

Maya: Just thought you'd like to know that Topanga is watching the babies this week.

Lucas: Ok, but you're coming home, right?

Maya: Umm, yeah.

Lucas: Ok, good. I missed the babies and my mom did too. Also Lucy is in town for the week so she is looking forward to seeing the kids.

Maya: Ok, that's nice.

Lucas: Can we go to Topanga's after to talk?

Maya: Umm, no. That's when I'm meeting with Kermit.

Lucas: Oh, ok. Can we meet at home to talk after then?

Maya: Yeah, that sounds ok.

Lucas: Okay, good.--So now let's go to class.

(He says as he grabs my hand.)

Maya: No, stop.

Lucas: Come on.

(He grabs my hand. And we walk to class.)

We go through the whole day and actually it wasn't to bad. Riley is talking to Lucas and Farkle really isn't either. Josh picks me up and drops me off at this small coffee shop. I go inside and I sit down at a small table and wait for Kermit to come.
